We can do both, one or none. It comes down to money.

I haven't researched any poll info on this, but I would guess closing the border would be higher than possible solutions for illegals currently here.

Again, why does citizenship have to be offered? Why not permanent residency only? These people are loyal to the country they came from. What is sad is that the majority of American born Mexican kids I've talked to as a high school employee have told me they do not consider themselves to be Americans. They do not want to live in Mexico, but their allegiance is with the country of the their parents nevertheless. We would be insane to let their illegal parents become citizens and any American born kid of theirs who professes allegiance to Mexico should have their citizenship revoked.
