Living in 2 places during retirement
Is it right to live in 2 places during retirement? Like 6 month in one state at one church & 6 months in another state at another church.

Re: Living in 2 places during retirement
I hope we retire here in our country home, but snowbird in California. If Wall Street rewards us, I hope to spend some time in a cabin up by Lake Superior.
Is it morally wrong ? Not at all.

Why would this be a "right or wrong question"? Why would God care if someone lives two different places? There are tons of "snowbirds" from Northern states who when they retire spend their winters in the South then go home for the summer.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: Living in 2 places during retirement
I think that depends upon the individual and God. I could not see myself clocking out of the place of ministry God has called me to for six months at a time, but every individual has their on ministries and callings. I don't think that anyone can answer the question for someone else. I don't think it is wrong in itself, but is that what God wants for the individual is where it becomes right or wrong.

Ahhhh, cabin by lake superior.
Spent some time by Chequamegan bay.
Wonderful place to be in the summer and fall. Nice if you like Ice Fishing also.
Have family there still.
Went deer hunting there two seasons ago, we all got one.

Let's just say it's highly discourages in the Northwest. I know of a Pastor that preached against until his mother-in-law remarried and moved away, but now comes back every few months for a couple months at a time.
People must be more reasonable where you come from...

Re: Living in 2 places during retirement
As long as one continues their relationship with God wherever they are, it doesn't matter where they live or if they continuously travel and never settle down. So, no, it's not "wrong."
That said, I understand why a Pastor may frown on it, depending on the individual. Were I a Pastor, and someone attended the church I Pastored 6 months out of the year and the other 6 months were in a different church in another state; and if this individual compared or complained about the differences in either the administration of the church or standards, then I, too, would not view it favorably.
I doubt that's the case here, but it's the only reason I could understand a Pastor being against it.

Re: Living in 2 places during retirement
It is harder to find people who are faithful nowadays. There are many throughout Christianity who do not commit to anything. Church is a family/team who are to work together in ministry and with fellowship. So many people expect local churches to be found faithful, but few want to be faithful. If people are suffering hard times and need someone to help lift them up they run to the church.
After needs are met they move on and don't think twice. The church is the body of Christ, and how can someone be a part of that body if they haven't a commitment to their fellow brother and sister in the Lord. As for this post, I don't find a problem with a person retiring and enjoying the fruit of their labor. If they are sure that they are being obedient to the will of God for their life.

N david, once again your response is thorough and reasonable. I appreciate the level headed input.
