With all due respect Brother Pitta, all that is, is a testimony of her academic achievements in her denomination. I don't know how she is part of the five fold ministry? Where is the teaching of Greek part of the five fold ministry?

Again, please with all due respect, but in the world of Christendom Pentecostal Bible Colleges aren't the top of the list for their theological endeavors. This statement doesn't mean I don't love the Apostolic movement, sister, and my brothers, but I have yet to place on my shelves lined with over 10,000 books in our library, one lexicon, Greek dictionary, or any textual critique of the Greek written by an Apostolic woman, or man.

I was speaking with a brother minister over in Greece, and asked him if he knew of a famous female UPCI Bible college professor who was renown in the Apostolic ranks for her Greek? He wanted the name. Brother Scott, what was the name of your school teacher?

I have never found that learning an ancient language or teaching translation was part of the five fold ministry. My daughter translates from Koine Greek, modern Greek to English. She is currently learning Latin, and Spanish.

Here is a story, my daughter was walking through the cafe section of Whole Foods, while I was sitting at a table where still could hear and see what was going on. Well, a group sitting at another table were some sort of Christian group, and stopped her and asked her what Church did she attend. She told them Apostolic. I guess one of the couples knew what Apostolic was, and I heard them say "Jesus Only." I rose up in my seat because the mention of Jesus Only usually means that they are ready to hand out a verbal beating. Anyway, I watched my daughter, and she didn't flinch, she kept her smile, and her manners, then turned to walk away. Then the woman asked her about Jesus name baptism, and One God. With out missing a beat, my daughter explained it all properly, answering the woman, and her husband's questions. My daughter held her own, even when all the people at the table became frustrated, as my daughter was able to answer politely, and respectfully with a wonderful smile.

Now, some of my friends, and brethren would call her a woman preacher, but she is not. Eunice the mother of the Evangelist Timothy used her knowledge to teach her son, as well as Timothy's MeMaw.

As Titus 2:3-5 shows a godly calling of female ministry, that ministry is in the home, teaching the children, and helping the husband.

Women such as Mary Lou Myrick, Olive Haney and Joy Haney taught classes there. Myrick was a dean of the college and exercised authority over men and women.

Myrick did not publish her Masters thesis.

So, a woman exercised authority over ministerial students and taught them. Many Pentecostal Apostolics owe her their ability to read Greek.

If it is wrong for a woman to exercise authority over men and to teach them, then Christian education in California has been wrong since Azuza Street.

UNLESS, you believe that the Apostolic Pentecostal Church was RESURRECTED in 1901 with Agnes Ozman, then new lighted its way to 1945 with the merger brethren? Do you subscribe to the Apostolic Church dying out in the "DARK AGES" doctrine? Were you taught that in your Bible School?

But to answer your question, young women should be taught by older women. Titus 2:3-5. So, the word of God be not blasphemed, I believe that is a noble calling.

Mary Lou Myrick, Th.B., B.A., M.A.

Mary Lou Myrick attended Southeast Missouri State University from 1947-1949. She earned the Bachelor of Theology degree from Apostolic College in 1957 and the Bachelor of Arts from the University of the Pacific in 1967 with a double major in English and Greek. She received her ordination to the ministry in 1958. In 1975 she earned the Master of Arts degree in Language Arts (Master of English and literature and history of language) from the University of the Pacific. After completing further graduate study, she was awarded a California Secondary Teaching Certificate (Grades 7-12), a California Postsecondary Instructor’s Certificate (with competency in English, Koine Greek, Literature, Psychology, and Education) and California Postsecondary Administrator’s Certificate (with competency in Library and Religious Studies) in 1985. She has served in various positions at Christian Life College since 1957. In addition to her many years of service as an instructor at Christian Life College, Rev. Myrick has been a PASTOR, a teacher in both public and Christian schools, and a college librarian.

When we compare the bible to modern opinions and the modern opinions hold more weight with us than the bible, then something is wrong. Using your reasoning, we can flip flop that and say if it's right for women to teach men spiritual truth as modernism makes it, then the bible is wrong.

No. I never read it. Sister Myrick is retired and lives in Tenn. but her memory is fading.
