Well, let's look at ISIS. It really began, in Iraq, as a Political movement between Sunni and Shiite

Look at Iran. It's the government or political/religious talking heads that talk about destroying Israel. That rhetoric get's funneled down to the koolaid drinkers who are just following their religion

Same thing happened with Rome and the March to Jerusalem. Those that went there were being told to by Religious and Political leaders

that seems awfully naive, to me. This seems to ignore that political movements generally begin from the populace. If there were not Hamas, Arafat, etc., there would be something else in response to societal pressures, don't you think? And these movements would not survive without support, although granted that support might also come from outside the movement.

Arguably--barely--IS was created, and is being funded, in order that we have someone to sell arms to; namely both (or all) sides most likely.

actually, i'm guessing that's a pretty good frame. A movement rises because it expresses the will of the people, then satan takes it over and warps it. Seems like a vicious circle.
