I think a flat national sales tax is the best choice I've heard. Income tax only serves to take away spending money from us, and spending money is what drives a capitalist economy (even though ours is so tainted by socialism, it can barely be called capitalism anymore). Without income tax, people would get more money in their paychecks, and thus spend more, where the sales tax would collect income for the government.

Of course, the trick is to make sure we don't end up with a national sales tax *AND* an income tax, like they have in many places in Europe.

I don't have all the answers, but I think a gradual shift towards a national sales would eliminate the need for any individual or corporation taxes. I'd first start with individual and small-business income taxes, then look to remove the other taxes after it's proven effective. That's my opinion, anyway.

No. It makes them less competitive in the global market and the taxes end up being paid by the consumer at the retail anyway.
