Re: Who was saved or lost in Old Testament??

OK. I asked my father who is 68 years old ,his father was a pastor for decades and also his uncle along with his older brother. He said he had always heard it this way. However I am not finding any scripture as Leviticus is hard to follow.

No one was ever saved under the law.

I'm concerned that heresy hunting may be turning into leukemia because some cultwatchers seem more intent on destroying parts of the body than healing the body....

That's it exactly. The law was unable to save, that's why they had to continually sacrifice. It was their faith that sustained them until the cross, when Jesus fulfilled the law.

But they were dead!

*sigh*

Their faith in life sustained them until the cross. I'm not implying they were alive at that time....

Sigh. This answer does not suffice! Faith in what? All they knew was the law.

Faith in God. Do I really need to spell this out for you?

My suggestion, read Hebrews 11.

Yes you do. Read verse 28 KJV. Even with faith the law was still kept

Re: Who was saved or lost in Old Testament??

Yes, they lived under the law, nevertheless their faith in God is what saved them, not the sacrifices. Those were simply to push their sins ahead, foreshadowing what Jesus fulfilled on the cross. Those sacrifices could never atone for their sins, only the blood of a sinless man could pay the price for their sinfulness. However, their sacrifices would have been meaningless without faith.

Pardon my incredulity, I simply found it hard to believe someone could be a member of this forum for over 5 years, and still not understand these basic concepts. If I came across a little condescending, I apologize.
