sheep vs cattle
Is there a thread discussing the reference of shepherd and sheep to saints and ministry? Seems to me lately the saints are being driven like a cattle drive. If anyone had dealings with cattle you know you cannot lead a cow anywhere. You have to get behind them and drive ( lots of noise, prodding and poking.) I have even seen on several occasions where you have to rope and drag them to the pen. Sheep follow a leader. I think its interesting the characteristics of sheep and the comparison of them to saints.

Oh, you mean prodding like when some evangelist says to the congregation..."cmon, ya carnal Christians, worship God, whatsamatta with you".... LOL
I heard an old pastor of mine once say.."if you cant keep up with us, we are gonna run you over"....
That doesnt look like revival to me, thats more like a stampede.....LOL

As one who has dealt with a lot of cattle in days gone by, I'll have to differ with the bolded part. Cattle can be led, and will follow you where ever you go... providing you have something they want and/or need. Something like a bucket of sweet feed. Feed 'em right and they will follow. Kinda like true followers of Jesus. As long as they are fed right (the truth), they will follow.
They only time I've seen cows balk and have to be roped is when they are in fear. "Fear hath torment..." the Apostle wrote, and no one... not even a cow... will react favorably to fear.

The problem is they have to be penned for worming ,castration and other things. I am currently running about 346 head. Getting them all to do what I want takes a little more than sweet feed . Sure I have ten or twelve that will follow a bucket. Plus you missed the point.

My oldest son has always wanted to be a cowboy and in fact now has a little 21 acre horse ranch. When he was about 10 or 11 years old a man in our church whose family owned a 400+ acre ranch invited him to come help with the cattle one weekend when they were castrating.
He had the time of his life. A few days later he was sitting in our living room excitedly telling one of his neighbor friends about his adventure. As he described the castration process the other little boy looked on in horror and asked "Why????".
The question caught my son by surprise and he looked thoughtful for a moment then replied "because it's the cowboy thing to do!"

Speaking of sheep and cattle being "driven", there is the danger of OVER DRIVING them... Gen 33:13 And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die. I wonder how many have OVERDRIVEN the tender and the young just one day and caused their spiritual death.
