The heresy hunters are still with us. Only now, instead of stakes, they use their books and radio programs to destroy those they consider heretics.... I'm concerned that heresy hunting may be turning into leukemia because some cultwatchers seem more intent on destroying parts of the body than healing the body....

No. Men like him are the exception; not the rule.

still; we have a lot of exceptions, it seems. I think even one with a following should be considered a Harbinger?

The new message is that it isn't the love of money that's the root of all evil, but the lack of it.

harbinger? LOL. there have been men using the idea of religion as a method of personal enrichment, since the beginning of time.

Re: $16,000 Dog

First of all, the "prosperity" preaching is old news. Seriously. It's been around for decades. Secondly, there will always be gullible people and men who abuse authority. However, I don't believe that the majority of [any denomination] pastors fall into that category. Therefore, it's a stretch to ask, "Is this what 'the church' is coming to?", as if the church as a whole or majority espouses the prosperity doctrine and flocks to charlatans. Most people have a general disdain for ministers who live flamboyantly excessive lives--not admiration.

True; maybe I should have said "centuries." Catholicism, anyone?

Re: $16,000 Dog

This is a really messed up way of thinking. It's sad what he is teaching his kids. And where did this money come from? The pockets of his congregants?? He needs to tell them "You want to prosper like me? You need to do what I done! Get you a buncha people ta follow you and give you they money!"
