JD, I read the article. my view is that there are more inputs than we can point to. including racism, jim crow and slavery.... and culture, and home environment and government perpetuation of dependance.....
I think any kind of putting ones finger on "the" issue is going to fail. Here is a very simple yet telling reality. The kids of Doctors are more likely to become doctors than kids of non-doctors. Even when you control for socio-economic and intelegence factors....
the same forces are at play in both poverty in general, poverty in the black community, and in the families of doctors becoming doctors...
I think a better discussion to be had is, since we know we have a problem. What can we do to turn that around?
