And frankly... wouldn't be easier to manipulate an election using voter ID cards???? Think about it. Not only could cards be counterfeited... but if they are a part of an electronic process they can be programmed. Might they be programmed to cast more than one vote for a given candidate or for a candidate not chosen by the card holder? I STRONGLY advise that voting be kept low tech.

voter ID laws do not intend to require voters get a "voter ID card".
The laws intend to require the individual prove who they are before they vote, by means of providing acceptible identification that already exists.
Most often, that means showing your drivers license, or equivelent state provided ID card for those who do not drive.
