Thank you Mow! You took the words right out of my mouth!

A teenage UPC girl visited the church that my friend pastors - they were taking her home with them to spend time with their daughter. She got on the cell phone with some friends and said - Hey, I just went to this church this morning and "THEY HAVE NO STANDARDS AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!"

He said - I like to have swallowed my tongue! He told her - Hon, We do have standards - just not as many as you guys have!
It is funny sometimes to hear those that have lived under the "standards" for years and know nothing else - how they respond!

It has been my experience that those who "spout" the loudest about standards are only boiling over.

Funny that she didn't mention the move of God she felt or how nice people were there, but felt the most important thing was to mention the standards she measured by were missing......sad.

One of the problems I have with this forum and with discussion is I don't know whether or not to take some of these posters serious. Seems like there are so many posting under various user names. And some of this discussion is getting very old.

I agree!!!! However, I think we can take most of this tripe as serious when you put it with the other things some of these folks say.

I don't know. There was a time when you knew the ultra conservatives and at least respect them for their consistency and for their convictions.

But I'm not even interested in getting involved in discussion with a lot of these "screen names" 'cause I think a lot of it is game and role playing.

Not interested. Thanks anyway.

Felicity, I was just thinking today about this.

I go to a church now that is not 'standards driven'. And one thing I've found to be glaringly evident is that when you are not having to spend time focusing on whether your clothing, hair, make-up, etc., are appropriate, you are left with alot more time that you can spend focusing on doing your best to become more like GOD would want you to be. More loving, more caring, more giving, more forgiving, more considerate, etc., etc., etc.,
