Tricked By Pakistan!

Seriously, there have been maybe one or two people that have brought this up to me in conversation, over the last 11 years or so. At one time, I even thought maybe there was some credence to my suspicions, but never had anything or anyone with some credibility to back me up.

So I dismissed my personal suspicions as maybe prejudice.

Fast forward to today and I read this article... and then I smh.

This has been known for a while. Congress has long questioned, but done nothing about, the money and support we send to Pakistan.

The US wasn't played. That's the part which is upsetting. Bush and obama both knew Pakistan is not our friend. Neither is Saudi Arabia for that matter.

It is not the media's job to push the President's or US government's propaganda!!! Sadly propaganda is all we get.

What do you think he should have done differently?

At least Obama went into Pakistan and killed bin laden WITHOUT the approval or help of the Pakistani government.

Still though, when do you think Obama knew?
Do you think his knowledge had anything, even remotely, to do with his desire to end America's involvement in both wars?

I don't know. My belief is that the US should suspend aid to any country who tries stradling the fence, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan and any others. I do remember Rumsfeld saying that the US would be using shadow warriors in order to win this new kind of war. Mercenaries. They likely felt the risk was worthwhile.

That was on advice from Leon Panetta, who believed the ISI was tipping off OBL and others. Unfortunately the last I read, obama has done nothing to help free the man who tipped the US off and gave us OBL's location. As far as I know he's still rotting in a Pakistani prison, being beaten for his "crime."

Not a bit. Last fall he gave Pakistan a gift of 1.6 BILLION dollars. Aid to Pakistan has increased under obama.

I did know that-- but forgot. In fact, I started a thread once about Pakistan being our ally!

Like I said, I had suspicions about Pakistan, but brushed them off. I wonder if our stance publicly toward Pakistan is somehow for the "greater good" of "American interests" or is it maybe we haven't had an honest President since WWII-- or maybe even before.

I think you're right with the first part....it's for the "greater good." It could be to keep them close and help make sure they and India don't wipe each other out with nuclear weapons.

I didn't like the idea of using shadow warriors or mercenaries or whatever. I don't agree with giving Pakistan billions as Bush and obama have.

Then again, I'm not the President and haven't a clue what is going on behind the scenes. I actually agree with obama bringing the troops home. I think we should get out of Afghanistan and Iraq.

And I forgot to include with what Bush should have done differently....he completely blew the opportunity to either capture or kill OBL in Tora Bora, IIRC around 2006 or somewhere around that time. They had his location pinned, had him in their sights and didn't take him out.

I have an idea. Why don't we not give billions to anyone regardless of what they think and pay our own bill.
