Eric Holder threatens Louie Gohmert

Astonishing.

"You don't want to go there, Buddy."

Wow, just astonishing. Watch his body movement in the video as well. Leaning back in his chair like the mafia.

Re: Eric Holder threatens Louie Gohmert

Ending the interview with a disparaging remark toward Gohmert referencing Gohmert's mistake last year during questioning when he said the word "asparagus", obviously meaning something else. Yes, that is funny, and he received a lot of ribbing over it, BUT it was very unprofessional, rude and a blatant dig by Holder. He sounded simply hateful today.

Congressman refuses to question Holder, suggests he should be in jail…

"I’m committed to maintaining the Constitutional balance of power and the authority that this legislative branch has, and I just don’t think it’s appropriate that Mr. Holder be here. If an American citizen had not complied with one of the Justice Department’s subpoenas, they would be in jail and not sitting here in front of me, testifying."

GOWDY: You don’t have discretion on whether to follow the law or not… HOLDER: I disagree… (video embed)

GOWDY: That’s my point, is that your memo is trumping a congressional statute.

HOLDER: Well, I mean, we always have discretion. And, would you say that…

GOWDY: But you don’t have discretion on whether to the follow the law or not. That’s my point.

HOLDER: No, no, I would disagree in the sense that, taking into account resource constraints, it is incumbent upon those of us in the executive branch to make the maximum use of the resources that Congress gives to us. That necessarily means we’re always making choices about the kinds of cases we bring, how we deal with cases we bring…

GOWDY: But you’re already expending the resources of the prosecution or you and I wouldn’t be having the question. This is all about sentencing. I have no qualms if you say I’m gonna decline prosecution. You have an unfettered right to do that.

What I’m saying is you don’t have the right to say, in mandatory minimum cases, don’t tell the grand jury what the drug amount is.

David, I could not believe how he acted toward Gohmert today. I shouldn't be surprised, but I am. Gohmert must be really pushing him for the information and getting under Holder's skin.

Hope Gohmert doesn't have any skeletons in his closet, because they'll be coming out soon if he does!

That was the exact impression I got from the threatening language. Gohmert seemed surprised that Holder responded that way and then recovered himself and began to push back.

Go, Blake Farenthold!!!
Full text:

“Thank you, Mr. Chairman.

You know, I understand that this Committee has the constitutional duty of oversight over the Department of Justice and that's why we have Mr. Holder here today – but I don't think I can be a part of eroding the constitutional balance of power, favoring the executive over the legislative.

I don't think Mr. Holder should be here. He's in contempt of this body. I've called for his resignation, I've sponsored articles of impeachment and, this week, I'm going to be introducing legislation that would prevent federal employees who are held in contempt of Congress or who fail to fully comply with a Congressional subpoena from being paid their taxpayer-funded salary. I'm going to try and get that [the legislation] included with the appropriations bills that’ll be going through.

I’m committed to maintaining the constitutional balance of power and the authority this branch – this Legislative Branch – has, and I just don’t think it’s appropriate [that] Mr. Holder be here. If an American citizen had not complied with one of the Justice Department subpoenas, they would be in jail – not sitting here testifying.

But I realize there are questions to be asked, and I’ll yield the remainder of my time to Mr. Gowdy.”

I didn't know this and am glad that Gohmert explained the term "casting aspersions on my asparagus!"

Louie Gohmert Reveals the Important History Behind Eric Holder’s ‘Good Luck With Your Asparagus’ Insult

“Percy Foreman was a very, very liberal criminal defense attorney, but he was incredible in the courtroom,” Gohmert said on Beck’s radio show. “When somebody started attacking his integrity, he stood up and said, ‘I object, he’s casting aspersions on my asparagus!’ And people would scratch their heads, but it brought down the level of the rancor. I was using a Percy Foreman line from criminal trials back probably 50 years ago.”

Interview on link and also a clip from the Three Stooges who were also aware of the term. LOL!
