I preach against TV, there is nothing on it that glorifies God...only the flesh. If you have a TV in your home then you are not Apostolic! I have never preached against highlights, if one is not wrapped up in sports then they will not have a desire to watch highlights. And since i'm knee deep already...it is also wrong to be involved in fantasy football leagues! I know a lot of you aren't going to like it but just because you don't want to believe the truth, the truth is still the truth!
With all due respect... and I do respect people like yourself who have a strong line against television. I am not one of the ones who blast away....
however, I beleive in the Water/Spirit doctrine. I teach it. I preach it. In my teaching, I almost weekly relate the Chirsitian experience to the Doctrine of Sanctification. I honestly do not believe you can as a minister stand before God and hear "well done" if you are not teaching Sanctification.
This past Sunday i stated the following "if you look at the way the world is acting and you dont think of yourself as an alien, then you need to really take a hard look at your walk with God. We are not to be comfortable with the lifestyle expressed by the lost".
and I am not Apostolic? I dont own a wedding ring. I do not wear shorts outside my house. I do however own a TV. I am not Apostolic?
With due respect, if you teach against TV, you have not seen one in a very long time. Exactly how can you therefore state that "there is nothing on it that glorifies God...only the flesh."?
Are you sure?
Now there isnt much that "glorifies god" that goes on in the daily life of most of the world. I sat thru more than one English class in college that didnt "glorify god" but I learned some really important stuff.
Ive watched a few programs on TV that have taught me some pretty important things as well. Glorify God? not in the strictest sense of the word, but I can sure entertain folk and cook some stuff that would blow your mind and do that to the Glory of God and a lot of my skills came from watching cooking shows on PBS on saturday mornings 15 years ago... of food network last week.
so....err.... uhm....
I suspect you wouldnt like it if I suggested you werent Apostolic because in my mind you have added to scripture. I could say that. others have. There is good solid bible for it.
But I am not disrespectful to fellow Apostolics.

How do you know there is nothing on TV that glorifies God? You can get hundreds of channels today...have you watched them all? What if an Apostolic church us broadcasting the truth on TV?
Why not computers and Internet? Why not preach against those and say if you have Internet access, you are not Apostolic?

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
Every sinner must repent of their sins.
That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.
The word doesn't say anything about pornography, television or bowling either...that doesn't make those things ok! Before you start telling me how I need to run my church I believe that it would be best for you to put your nose in The Book!
So bowling is a sin now too?
BTW Why can't he tell you how to run "your church" (Its not really yours) since you presume to come here and tell us how to run our lives?

Thats one reason we left our Apostolic Church besides the fact it was really small, was the Standards, you know how they believe and you know they know how they believe, but they do small stuff to ride the fence like cut there hair alittle or get manacure and pedicures done but preach against makeup.
I had a friend that went to a UC church nearby. He had a TV for years. I found out others did too though they only did stuff like watch NETflix and MMA fights over the Internet....
All the while looking down on other Oneness churches

I distinctly remember as a teenager listening to a young preacher preach at Louisiana camp meeting where in one breath he was condemning to hell Pentecostal saints and preachers who played golf then in the next breath told a story about something that happened while he was either working out or playing handball at the gym.
It was kind of funny because you could tell as soon as he told the gym story it dawned on him it was kind of absurd in the wake of his golf tirade. He paused, collected his thoughts, then proceeded to do a terrible job of trying to explain why golf was a sin but spending time at the gym was not.
Keep in mind this was in the 70's before golf was pretty much universally accepted as being ok to participate in.

Titus2woman on AFF
"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
Quote from Ethel Goss (widow of 1st UPC Gen Supt. Howard Goss) book "The Winds of God"

Our pastor during the 80's pretty much felt that ANY public sport or activity (which by definition included any activity which was done alongside people who were not in the church) was a sin, yet discovered he enjoyed downhill skiing. Guess which activity wasn't preached against? Now I didn't complain insomuch that I loved downhill skiing also, but anyone who hadn't drank the cool-aid, and there were a few, could see how ridicules it was.
