I think that we should always focus on the strong family unit no matter the mistakes and bad examples we have before us. A strong family makes for a strong church which makes for a strong community.
However, to turn every occasion into a celebration of the ministry has always turned me off. And maybe coming out of Catholicism, it bugs me more, I don't know.
I was really wondering if anyone has done a study, have we discussed this here, because I don't really know how much honor we are supposed to bestow on the ministry. I didn't ever notice Jesus or the Disciples demanding the attention and honor that the present ministry displays.
I don't come to church for the ministry, never have and never will.

Was it not Christ Himself that Pastor Paul would suffer mightily for His Namesake.
That's honor right there Sister! To be singled out by God Himself to suffer and if that's not enough Paul is not part of the 12 and that means he won't be getting the special pastor seating.

Well, whenever you hear people using terms like 'the laity', or speaking of a church as 'Brother So-and-so's church', etc... well, might be an indication of what's really going on there.

Amen!
My husband was saying that he just feels honored that God would give him something to share with the congregation. That is enough honor. We don't need anything more than that.

I don't think refering to a church as bro So n So's church" always says that. It simply IDs which congregation one is refering to. Like me saying "my church is selling tacos this Sunday"

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
- There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
- The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
- Every sinner must repent of their sins.
- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Uh huh. Riiiiiight.
"What church do you go to?"
A. 'My church.'
B. 'ABC Pentecostal Assembly of the Lord Jesus, Apostolic Faith International (Podunk, Missouri).'
C. 'Brother Joe's church.'
Hmmm.....

I agree that it is not always meant in that way, but I have experienced times when it was.
