There are, they just aren't always recognized as such. T.W. Barnes was one.

He called a man into his office once, a local pastor, before a revival service. Bro. Barnes told the man that after the service the man was going to run away with his secretary. He told him details only God and the adulterees would know. The man broke down and started down the path of true repentance, saving his family. If I remember Bro. Barnes told the man his whole family would backslide and he'd never make it back. The man never preached again, but the family stayed together and they continued living for God.

Exactly. What many don't understand is in the cultural dynamic of our world it is not very prudent to stand up in front of a live audience and go to calling people out, revealing secrets and hidden sin.

I have know many "modern day prophets" who operate clearly in the office and in the anointing gift of prophecy that do so on an individual basis WITHOUT a gallery of spectators.

A man or woman doesn't have to be reprimanded or warned in public by a prophetic ministry for it to be legitimate. And beyond the sin involved…no one knows what went on behind closed doors.

I have seen so many lies posted. The best one is the one Triumphant 1 did his best to combat. You know, the hair cutting party thing?

Prominent members of this board chose to believe the lie and even continue to spread it, even though T1 had totally proved it was false.

AND….

Who says that the prophetic voice has to be pigeon holed in the "call them out individually" mode?

I have seen many ministers operate in the 5 fold ministry office of a prophet while bringing the sermon message God put on their hearts. Usually it accompanies their personal recognition that "that part of the sermon was not in the notes."

You probably can't count how many times ministers in trouble sit in a service and have there mail read from the pulpit. There are instances where they even prophesy to themselves while preaching to others.

Yes…the gift of prophecy and the office of a prophet are still active in the body of Christ. You simply may not be able to recognize it if you have a preconceived idea of what it HAS to look like.

I know we like to say God is a gentleman and won't embarrass you in front of other people, but Annanias and Saphrias (sp) may disagree.

Yep. Heard a prophet tell our praise and worship leader that she would begin a new ministry: writing songs! (She already was writing songs, had been for many years.) Also said she would be the spiritual leader of her family! (With her husband standing right there.)

I started to let this go but the thought came to me why it is ok to profess to be a pastor or evangelist or even a teacher, but not a prophet or apostle?
