Charnock, you are off base in your criticism. While TB may not have been liberal by most of us to a former AMFer and now independent ultracon like Elder Epley he would be considered moderate or liberal as he probably allowed short sleeves and video in the church. Everybody has a paradigm that is their perspective.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: Prominent Memphis Area Pastor Resigns
I never said that. David has been referenced on this thread as someone who lost his leadership role. God didn't remove David from leadership.
I'm curious why you have a sliding scale of sins. Adultery is as bad as murder.

Point being I don't think using kings of OT as a model for if a minister today should remain in position after adultery is wise. Both kings sinned one rejected and one remained so which do we go by?

You mean like a sin unto death and a sin not unto death? I think you missed my point, why are people using David to justify a minister keeping a position but ignore Saul losing his for his sins.

That's a good question. David lost influence, but not his position.

Right, the question how can that relate to a pastor today keeping his position today if he murders a wife husband to have affair?
For those who say pastor should keep position after an affair does it apply if a pastor murders a husband to have affair with his wife?

Yes. He just had a moment of weakness. If he "repented" then who are we to say that he repented long enough. God forgave him as soon as he repented. Who are we to decide if he needs to sit down for a while or not.

Re: Prominent Memphis Area Pastor Resigns
Would you guys change your leave the pastor alone stance if it was a homosexual affair for 5yrs? Or would it still remain "he is human too and has weaknesses"
