bbyrd. I love ya. I really do.

But half the time I can't decipher what you are talking about. Maybe I'm just slow. Or something.

Ha the problem does not lie with your receiver--but I just re-read my last unclear? post, and the reference was to T2W's "spoons make you fat" analogy.

Do spoons make anyone fat? No, but if I have
a brother who is susceptible to spoons, do I
encourage him in a more...healthy direction,
or help find a way to offer him more flavors of ice cream?
"Am I my brother's keeper?"

While "spoons make you fat"
is also a relevant reflection, and I do recog this,
it's hard to deny its opposite, which is that
if one is surrounded by spoons, inundated with them,
and told that they are ok from birth by those
in a position of trust, then, all of a sudden,
a spoon with the F bomb written on it
in a children's movie becomes ok,
and then, where does that end?

So, for my first "right" of the day,
I'll say "It's a Wonderful Life" is great!
and movies about demi-gods saving the planet are not,
at least for me; and I don't expect my line to be anyone else's.

"You only get what you give away."
I get you on this, really I do...

But we all have to decide for ourselves.

God does not have grandchildren.

Mom and Dad's rights and wrongs don't save us and they don't condemn us.

We have to heed the call for ourselves.

And we have to eschew evil on our own.

Because evil has always been and will always be on this side of eternity.

Spoons did not make me fat.

People, not guns, kill people.

Movies may influence but we choose to act.

It's all about personal responsibility.

Re: Hollywood the cause of killings?

The cause of this killing is that this guy decided to kill people.

Actually...it's because of sin.

Re: Hollywood the cause of killings?

Yup. And subliminal messages are a sin, to me.

Btw, for the record, I can't stress enough
how much I recommend not smoking pot
(is this the right thread?)
especially for a depressive.
Another case of a wonderful gift perverted, imo.
Completely changes the chemical profile, etc.

T2W, I agree, but...
I think the reality is that so much negativity
inevitably affects the set of choices a kid can even make

One day I'll tell you a story. About two kids with the same genetics. Who lived in the same house. Who had the same screwed up upbringing. Today one is a killer who soon will be executed by the state. The other is a productive citizen who pays taxes and follows the rules and loves God.

Hint: I am one of them. Personal choices count and no negative influence negates that.

I heard one guy say "More people should be born again."
I have to agree with that statement.

If this guy was born again, he would not be shooting people in movie theatres.

Re: Hollywood the cause of killings?

It's always someone else's fault, right? Sure, I agree Hollywood's influence doesn't help. But, let's rid ourselves of the victim mentality and take responsibility. The shooter made the choice to plan out a very-detailed attack. The shooter made the choice to shoot and kill, however many he intended to kill IDK. He made the choice. It's his own fault.

When will folks grow up and stop blaming someone else for their own action(s), or stop blaming some group for someone else's actions?
