Godhead Songs

Bro. Martyn Ballestero in his last two blogs has been emphasizing songs about doctrine.

These are two about "The Godhead"

Naw...

http://oldlandmark.wordpress.com/cat...george-farrow/

One of the advantages to having a nearly 80 year old pastor was that all the old songs were part of worship service. I love old gospel songs and old hymns and ones with sound doctrine are better than ones without... I mean "The Old Gospel Ship"... what the heck is THAT??? Makes me think of those guys in the bunkbeds with the matching Nike tennis shoes.

"Down From His Glory" although a Oneness sounding song, was written by a Trinitarian.

I love "It's All In Him". I have actually used that Hymn in Bible Studies with my Trinitarian preacher friends that I've won over to Oneness Truth... it is such a great encapsulation of the Oneness of God.

It has been my experience that most all "Trinitarians" believe that Jesus is God. Most of them believe that God, Jesus, Holy Ghost are three manifestations of the the one true God.

Tritheism - is the belief that there are three distinct, powerful gods, who form a triad. I have yet to come across a "Trinitarian" who believes there are three gods.

That has been my experience too. I think the main difference from a Trinitarian and a Oneness person is in how they baptize. Really, they both believe in One God manifesting himself in different ways, and they disagree on the language.

I love those two old songs Sam.... wish there were more of those songs being written with sound doctrine in them, instead of all these mushy "love" songs likening Jesus to being your "Lover of your soul" instead of the godhead, doctrinal songs.

One of my favorite songs is "On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand."
