The beginning was multiple stories about people who insulted God then died horrible deaths. Of course I am sure there are a few million more low lifes every day who curse God and do the same who won't get their comeuppance until judgement day! Of course these stories are red meat for most old time Pentecostal crowds.
Yes. John Lennon DID say the Beatles were more popular than Jesus, and he WAS shot -13/14 years later.

The stories of those who mocked God and died was about the first 1/3 of his message. The payoff was ultimately comparing those who mocked God to those who left Holiness Apostolica with a good long nod to uncut hair.

And in that date and time, the early 60s, for the most part John was probably right. The Beatles were the rage and the unsaved young folks were not thinking about Jesus.

That seems like a no-brainer to me.

A side note: just in case there is anyone here who might have the 'ear' of LS, stories and endless data are not what I want, or better than that, NEED to hear in a sermon.

Thank the Lord that I have a pastor who preaches the Word. It challenges be to stretch out in faith and godliness. It reproves me and stirs me. It lifts me up as well as move me to tears and travail.

Praise the Lord for the Word and for men and women who know how to administer it in power and love.

You are so radical! Actually wanting the Word preached. I have noticed that some preachers seem to use a few scattered scriptures to support their thoughts. I don't mind sermons that are a theme that draws from different scriptures but I do like the balance to be that there is substantial scripture as the basis.

Thanks to all who provided the cliff notes. I would be more impressed if someone transcribed the message word for word and posted it.

LOL!! Nate puts me to sleep. I have tried to watch / listen to him several times over the years on webcasts. It is true he is not a screamer but he is a very boring speaker. When I try to llisten to him I am reminded that blood is thicker than water when it comes to Pentecostal pulpits and inheriting them. (which is not just a UPC problem I see it in many exUPC churches as well).
