I'm cool (OK) with that situation. Of course, the severity of the punishment should be reasonable. Eternal torment in flames is a bit extreme, no matter what the offense. IMO.

An eskimo is perfectly happy on a diet of whale-blubber, which would kill you, or have you in pretty poor health, living in TX. And bottom-feeders; do you really need God to tell you not to eat a scavenger? That is up to you.

I'd say that the fruit will certainly instruct me, if I blow it. I truly believe that sin requires knowledge of right and wrong in that area, and no one goes to hell for a sin if they are ignorant there. Sins are things done willfully, with foreknowledge of their wrong.
I might quickly do something illegal, risky, or unwise; to save a life,
for example. Evil and immoral seem to be a diff cat to me.

I'm also convinced that "Eternal torment in flames" was just the best alliteration possible for a human, and we are told that there are levels of hell, and heaven, aren't we? Of course, we only see black, or white there...
