Global Warmists Love Bad Economy
Global Warming/Climate Change advocates are happy that the world economy is slumping. Less gross domestic product, less economic activity, less carbon dioxide produced by autos, trucks, trains, planes, factories, power plants and less energy consumed by people is welcomed by the "inconvenient truth" believers. Carbon dioxide, that naturally occurring gas that plants need for energy, that animals and humans exhale, is absolutely necessary for life on the planet. The climate changes as a natural result of weather patterns like El Nino and La Nina. The climate changes because of unusual solar activity on the surface of the sun. But the believers of this manmade global warming fantasy won't let it go.
We are supposed to believe that sources of energy that have been tried and found wanting are the future to prosperity and progress. Wind? Yeah those sailboats worked for Christopher Columbus and the disciples of Jesus and king Solomon's navy, but modern ships are gonna need more than that. Solar? Those sundials are a little tough to wear around the wrist. Are you ready to build your house next to a river so you can attach a water wheel to the generate your electricity? "Progressives" like to think they are looking forward when touting such sources of energy but they're actually regressing to pre-industrial times. Humanity has moved past these energy sources.
Forcing adoption of expensive and inefficient sources of power only drags down the economy, which is exactly what the MMGW believers want. In that respect, the stimulus wasn't a colossal failure. The massive unemployment and pitiful economic growth that followed the $800 billion spending spree were a smashing success, so long as one is more worried about carbon-dioxide levels than the number of real lasting jobs.
Al Gore said in 1992 that the internal combustion engine was a "mortal threat" to the future of the planet. Internal combustion made mass production possible, fueling the industrial revolution and making the lives of everyone better. Socialists hate the idea that individuals acting through the free market would be allowed to improve their living conditions without central planning. Liberals trust government to do a better job of improving our lives over individuals working free of government interference. Liberals don't trust capitalism.
