Re: My Prediction For Florida
Just as I thought. Yes, Mitt is that "steady" flip-flopping candidate.
Quote:
Romney Advisor: No Obamacare Repeal
As Ben Domenech notes in his Transom, Mitt Romney’s advisors have now advised him to support “a $2 gas tax, a VAT, and open Taliban talks.” Add to that list not repealing Obamacare. Norm Coleman, an advisor to Romney, went on record saying
We’re not going to do repeal. You’re not going to repeal Obamacare… It’s not a total repeal… You will not repeal the act in its entirety, but you will see major changes, particularly if there is a Republican president… You can’t whole-cloth throw it out. But you can substantially change what’s been done.
If a Republican gets into the White House and does not sweat blood trying to repeal Obamacare in its entirety (regardless of success), I predict the end of the Republican Party legitimately. It won’t be worth fighting for if the party itself does not think it worth fighting for its voters. If the GOP takes back the White House, it’s voters will expect a real fight, not a half-hearted attempt.

LOL! So true! My husband said he doesn't see how he can walk into a voting booth and pull the lever for Romney.
And I love this quote by Armstrong Williams:
"We are an entertainment/Sports obsessed society. We're no different than the ancient Romans whose lives were built around entertainment at the Coliseum. They enjoyed mayhem and bloodletting, whether at the hands of a Gladiator or the claws of a lion. However, around them forces were gathering that eventually led to the destruction of their once great empire."

The chickens are coming home to roost on Newt here in Florida!
My prediction may not be true after all.
Apparently, Rubio and Romney are friends from way back. Rubio has all but endorsed Romney-- which would pretty much shut the race down for Newt in Florida if Rubio ever did such a thing.
Good guy that Rubio is, he said he wouldn't endorse anyone right now.

Rubio came to Romney's defense twice already. One over the Charlie Crist comments and over the anti-immigration ad that Newt put out.
Rubio is calling Romney a conservative. I'm wondering why it took him until his adult life to figure out that abortion is murder.
I wish I would have saved an article I ran across months ago. It looks like, as Krauthammer and others have predicted, it's going to be a Romney/Rubio ticket. I'll be very disappointed in Rubio for that.
I strongly agree with Dan Riehl - “Mitt owns the political and financial establishment that has run Washington post-Reagan and gotten us to where we are today."
Would have loved to have wrestled our way out of that, but with Fox News in the tank for the GOP, as well as, Drudge, I don't see it happening.
We have two very flawed candidates to choose from. The reason that Gingrich got a bounce in SC was because of Perry's endorsement. Perry didn't come across as an effective spokesman for grass roots conservatism, not because people didn't believe in his cause or his sincerity. Wish he would have put off his back surgery. It really hurt him in the first debates. He just didn't have the time. He would have made a great president. No flip-flopping, no personal baggage - *sigh*... I'm still disappointed that his record and governance were overlooked by his beginning debates, but that's the way it works. No getting around it. *sigh*......
Not excited at all about this election. I see Romney as status-quo and his campaign has already said they won't be able to repeal Obamacare, just make some adjustments. I knew that was going to happen. That is why, IMO, the GOP is gunning for him. They've wanted it all along, pretending as though they didn't.

Re: My Prediction For Florida
If the GOP wins the presidency and they don't fundamentally change course, there will be massive protests in DC that will force the hands of politicians. Americans have had enough.

I honestly agree with you.
We saw what it could be like if Americans ever "had enough" during the healthcare scare and debate.
When Americans decide that it is time for change, there will be no mistaking it.
Could you imagine a nationwide boycott of elections of taxes? Could you imagine a lawlessness that while not violent, it would... just imagine.

I predict a large win for Romney in Florida, and his being nominated to run against Obama. Romney is the strongest leader, and our country needs that strength right now. Romney has lived in a liberal Democratic state and to be governor in that state he had to move more to the left else not be able to win and influence. He as governor saw first hand the damage of a leftist agenda and became increasingly conservative. You may not like his strategy, but those that don't live in reality are destined to the sidelines.
Ronald Reagan was a Democrat earlier in his career, he also moved increasingly to the right, Romney has a Mormon heritage that is very conservative, family values and strong work ethic. He has shown his astuteness in business, and the discipline to focus and work hard over many years to achieve his goals. He will be able to bring all this strength to lead our country.
Newt is fun, and exciting to listen to when he is on target, but he is too scattered, and lacks the depth of discipline and character. Though he has turned his life around, he will be slaughtered by the Democrats and the their partners in the media. He cannot win against BO.
Romney can win and can govern in a way to lead this country forward in both economics and character.

I hope this to be true. Although with his Mormon heritage, I wonder that it took him so long to understand that abortion was wrong.
And I do agree with Santorum's remarks at last night's debate concerning Romneycare, which Romney has always stood by and was the blueprint for Obamacare:
Santorum: “What Governor Romney just said is that government-run top-down medicine is working pretty well in Massachusetts, and he supports it. Now, think about what that means — going up against Barack Obama…you are going to claim, well, top-down government-run medicine on the federal level doesn’t work, and we should repeal it. And he’s going to say, wait a minute, Governor. You just said that top-down government-run medicine in Massachusetts works well. Folks, we can’t give this issue away in this election. It is about fundamental freedom.”
Romney: (referring to individual mandate) “We are insisting on personal responsibility.”
Santorum: “Does everybody in Massachusetts have a requirement to buy health care?”
Romney: “Everyone has a requirement to either buy it or pay the state for the cost of providing them free care.”
Santorum: “Just so I understand this, in Massachusetts, everybody is mandated as a condition of breathing in Massachusetts, to buy health insurance, and if you don’t, and if you don’t, you have to pay a fine.”
Romney: “First of all, it's not worth getting angry about.”
Umm, yes, it is worth getting angry over. But, as warnings regarding Obama were unheeded and futile, so will this be also.
