Victory today can mean sorrow tomorrow

I am reading Tortured for Christ for the third time in 20 years.

This second edition is more preachy and not really about his experiences in prison..it a lecture on western Christianity ...

but now we see Christianity again in this country trying to invade our government institutions..Why ? I ask myself. I have seen Pentecostals get caught up in this religious debate in this country..and I have never felt threatened by the unbelief others have in our society only because of my own experience in Christ from the beginning..the baptism not in water by a minister by by the Holy Spirit Himself. I am sealed with the Holy Spirit of redemption and no intellectual can ever change my knowledge of the reality of Christ..Jesus is in me. I have been getting reinforced with this knowledge for the last 34 years reading to make war with the unbelievers to subdue them; to intellectually force them to go down into the water.

But religion in politics is getting in my way...and threatens Christian influeince in our next generation probably weakening it.. and that's the deleima today..
Why does the theory of evolution threaten Christians so?

Why the need for creation in public schools..the biggest threat to our kids is
not the theory of evolution...Why spend all that strength on now intelligent design.. when Christians are created by the foolishness of preaching..never is the gospel of Christ founded upon reason..hence the miraculous never needs a reason..it just is..which means all we need is more miracles

Why are Christians spending more time in politics than in prayer ?

We have a great bus ministry in our church. The poor etc. We do need to engage at the University level, the professional level and politics. Don't be intimidated or tell me to be intimidated discussing science or politics.

Re: Victory today can mean sorrow tomorrow

a couple of points.

1. simply because you say Christians spend more time in politics than in prayer does not make that a fact. I defy you to prove the allegation.

2. This is the first paragraph of the linked story:
Of all the head-scratching whoppers delivered by presidential candidate Rick Perry this week — from the Fed chairman's potentially treasonous tactics to the myth of global warming - none was more shocking than this: Texas teaches religion as scientific fact.

Perry didn’t say Texas teach religion as scientific fact. That is a lie. As a christian are you ok with lying? Are you ok with spreading lies? What is worse, being politically engaged or lying?

You decry being politically engaged, by LYING ABOUT POLITICS!

You are in fact both telling/spreading a lie and spending your PRAYER TIME BEING ENGAGED IN POLITICS!

With the voice of Ronald Reagan, "now there you go again"

you can't wait to take over can you...learned nothing from the inquisions..
the crusades????

Do you know that those events long, long ago , go a long way to twart peoples ability to accept the gospel today??? .did you see the irony in the thread title..would you prefer to see people won by force of arms or without hands...just as the stone cut from a mountain not made with hands destroyed the Roman empire, without so much as single drop of shed blood besides his own..

Can you see the next generation of Christians in America?

I'm not intimidated by evolution..I've been filled with the Holy Spirit..
the argument falls on deaf ears here..it's the intellectual Christians that have a problem..the ones who need to connect the dots..to believe..
I believed by the foolishness of the gospel and received before I could doubt... ever!!! and I know that my fruit can only come through the hearing of faith...and the power is of God and not of us.. we need only to believe..

and for me that is easy..I'm fixed..

i must be stupid. I have no idea what the emboldened means....

knowing a thing or two about Roman History, I can assure everyone that the Roman Empire fell in a bloody tangle that left Europe devistated for more than 700 years.

Rivrs
You rail against politics and why did you start a thread on it? Why are you reading the Houston chron instead of prayer and fasting? Did you pray and fast the day The gov called for it?

It entertains me to see people talking about something and preeching agsint talking about it.

I am fed up with politics..been hearing about it but never been that much a part of it...but without being involved I hear to much about it..

that's why I started this thread.

as far as prayer and fasting I been doing to much of that too...from my perspective...

but this thing has been going on about religion & politics fer too long..I first noticed it in the 80's when there was this prayer amendment thing in which the democrats or congress put down....but it was the Pat Robertson presidential run in 88 that put me off really when I didn't like his attacks on the then G Bush ..accusations and all..someone some how got me involved in support Pat...I think I was helping out the 700 club back then....I tell ya politics is dirty business...

as for prayer and fasting.... I go what I needed in January a sort of correction of sorts..

You mean about the stone cut from a mountain not made with hands???
That's Jesus...

not made with hands suggests not of man the feet on the image made of iron a and clay is the Roman Empire..the iron is the Romans the Clay is the Christians..the Christians weakened the Empire and the stone being Jesus is what caused the Roman empire to fall..

Christianity .

The answer to number one is clearly ...

That if you have a politician organizing a prayer rally for the country then obviously Christians haven't been praying like they hadda oughta

and as far as number two is concerned... I didn't write the title..the people at the chronicle did.
my title is "Victory today can mean sorrow tomorrow "
It's m ore about political gains becoming spiritual losses...it's quite visionary since I perceive that like in the past when religion gets it hold on earthly power.... well... we c already the crusades the inquisitions ...then yo have the trials of teachers of evolution again......

all religion and politics do is create more hateful anti religious people....

please re-challenge me..
