17 months on a political clock is eons. This same stage in 2007 Hillary Clinton was the frontrunner in the Dem Party and Obama was a relatively unknown candidate. 6 weeks out from Election Day in 2008 the economy tanked and propelled Obama from trailing in the polls to leading in them the rest of the way to Election Day.
There's plenty of time to select a strong GOP candidate. Michele Bachmann is my #1 choice. Herman Cain is #2. Either one could beat Obama on his best day.

Obama will be reelected by a landslide margin because the Republicans don't have a decent candidate or a coherent message.
They pander to Christians just like Dems pander to African-Americans. They say the right things during the election cycle and then do nothing when elected.
Trouble is, they are nothing better than a lite beer version of Dems. They want a little less spending, a little less abortion, and a little less gay marriage.
Obama will be reelected. And that is almost as bad as Sarah being elected.
