Unemployment Up to 9.1%, Housing, Car Sales Down

Only 54,000 jobs created in May. Unemployment rises for the second month in a row to 9.1%. Recent manufacturing, housing and car sales reports all show a slow down. The so-called "recovery" that the White House has been touting is barely perceptible to most Americans.

A year ago when there was a slow down in the growth of the economy the Obama admin advocated more govt spending and asset purchases by the Fed Reserve. Its obvious all of this "stimulus" money, federal spending programs, increased regulation, moratoriums on domestic oil drilling, and anti-business fiscal policies aren't working! What's so difficult in figuring this out?

The GOP led Congress during the Bush years, the Dem led Congress in his last 2 years and the first 2 years of Obama have proven that bigger government is NOT better! The free spending of both admins and Congresses have given us 10 plus years of deepening debt. Its obvious to us peons that ITS THE DEBT that's killing the economy! ITS THE SPENDING, STUPIDS!

No sitting president has been reelected with unemployment above 8%. If things don't pick up soon for BO, there won't be enough time to get those number down before Nov. 2012. Its not looking good for this White House. Its not looking good for America. We tried to warn you that liberal policies at home and abroad have proven over and over again to be failed ideologies. But too many people vote with what the media feeds them and the TV shows them and they don't take the time to really study and inform themselves on the issues and what history teaches us.

Let's hope this time around the facts of 4 years of liberal governance will be obvious and people will vote for sound truly conservative fiscal government.

Re: Unemployment Up to 9.1%, Housing, Car Sales Do

I'm sure "hoping for change" come Nov. '12.

If the papers were full of op-eds and stories like the above, there wouldn't be a snowballs chance of this radical man and his radical croanies getting near the WH again.

But, what we have are the media spin doctors out in force, covering for BO's utter failures.

We're told to be patient, there are going to be bumps along the way...maybe BO and his family should have to face some of those bumps first hand....let him have to tell his family, well, I've lost my job.....(PLEASE!).

Pelosi says it would have been much worse if Obama hadn't helped so much.

As long as what motivates this imbicel to believe such things, we'll keep heading for the cliff.

A Chinese ratings house has accused the United States of defaulting on its massive debt, state media said Friday, a day after Beijing urged Washington to put its fiscal house in order.

"In our opinion, the United States has already been defaulting," Guan Jianzhong, president of Dagong Global Credit Rating Co. Ltd., the only Chinese agency that gives sovereign ratings, was quoted by the Global Times saying.

Washington had already defaulted on its loans by allowing the dollar to weaken against other currencies -- eroding the wealth of creditors including China, Guan said.
That is not good news.

Say it ain't so. One commie country whining about another country going commie.
If China used those dollars to purchase US goods, the dollar would rise.

Re: Unemployment Up to 9.1%, Housing, Car Sales Do

There are people who are suggesting that our economy needs yet another government stimulus package-- I guess one more to really do us all in.

Then again, most economists are of the opinion that the massive cuts called by some Republicans would sink the economy as well-- causing too many more people to lose thier jobs all at once.

It's a tough spot for our country to be in with apparently no one able to come up with a suitable solution.

If we're going to wait for China to make the right choices....please, nobody hold their breath.
At the same time, there are things that this administration could be doing, to improve the economy, but refuses. Better not hold your breath in any case.

There are suitable solutions. Your leftist liberal model needs to be tossed in the trash. Did you ever go to a garage sale and buy a used econ book?

Obama is a disaster and has his minions still hand wringing and blaming Bush. Obama is doing 4-5 things very wrong and if he got out of the way, things would improve.
