He didn't use myths, but he did use imagery...

The heresy hunters are still with us. Only now, instead of stakes, they use their books and radio programs to destroy those they consider heretics.... I'm concerned that heresy hunting may be turning into leukemia because some cultwatchers seem more intent on destroying parts of the body than healing the body....

Where else in a parable did Jesus use non-existent imagery? I see the sower and the seed, a fisherman and this. There may be another to validate the use of imagery in parables, but I honestly cannot think of one. I would think that if this was a VISION, then it may be imagery.

Talk about something not explicitly in the scriptures, Mike you sure take license.

Abraham's bosom in Hades????

I posted a link earlier in this thread to an article about Hell, you can review that if you like. Hell is the grave, the place of the unseen, Ghenna, Sheol, Hades, none of which is a fiery torture chamber.

No, Lazarus and the rich man was a parable, describing the condition of the Jews and the Gentiles, and the coming destruction of the Jewish nation.

Sinners are destined to judgment and corrective "hell" which in the original languages refers to the pruning of trees.

No license about it. Hades/Sheol was where all the dead went before the cross. Read David.
