Yes, it is.

We can forgive, but trust is hard to restore.

I was thinking of Kirk Franklin and his struggle with pornography. It was very beautiful that he totally trusted his wife enough to confess to her so that she could stand beside him and help him. He is still standing, right? I'm always afraid to ask! LOL!

Yes, and his pastor counseled him, too. For a long period of time I think.
I am not sure if he is or not, but he was very public with it, so I am sure he has safeguards in place, and accountability.

Re: **preacher forums**

There are many good reasons to not shred people in public, including the fact that their families will be hurt by it.

That said, I understand pointing out inconsistencies for the sake of discussion; it just makes a lot more sense to do that when the other person is present to discuss it with you. Otherwise it might be backbiting.

I also understand the desire to strike back at someone who has hurt a lot of people with their hypocrisy and immorality. My thought is, it's really hard to drag someone through the mud without getting mud on your own boots.

I'm not saying that because they're preachers; I'm saying that because Jesus told us to love our enemies and do good to those who despitefully use us. There are times when something is public knowledge and it can and should be addressed, and saints should draw a public line between themselves and the errant person. If, however, something hasn't been made public (and isn't something that MUST be made public), we have a biblical guideline that tells us to settle things in-house.

So the question is: What comprises "in-house?" Can we discuss things going on in our own ranks? Well, the simple answer is--not in public. (which might explain one of the benefits of a private forum) And then you're back, full circle, to the problem of discussion turning into gossip and backbiting.

I believe he's still doing good. A station I listen to interviewed him a couple months ago and he spoke of it and thanked God and his wife for being his strength while overcoming his addiction.

Re: **preacher forums**

My heart does go out to people that have fallen. Restoration is possible, God is faithful and just. And to the people that want to judge their brothers and sisters, be very thankful for there but for the grace of God, it could happen to us.

Re: **preacher forums**

My thought is, if it's a public matter, we can discuss it. If something has made it into the newspaper--we can discuss it. If something is being handled privately, then we should respect that even if we WANT to proclaim the hypocrisy to the world.

I Corinthians 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

and

Galatians 6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
Galatians 6:2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
