I remember a message he preached at the General Conference a few years ago. Had boxes all over the stage with "blood" all over them. I don't remember the title or much of the message. I just remember it was weird and others I've talked with felt the same way.

He may be a great guy, enthusiastic with a passion for souls and a former missionary . . . but as already has been pointed out, that doesn't automatically mean he'd be a great GS.

Personally, if I had a vote, I'd vote for Anthony Mangun. He's solid Acts 238, strong with convictions, yet not so neocon that he runs people off. He's got an incredible passion for souls - every message he preaches bears witness of that. He's got a great church that reaches more lives and gives more money to missions and the community than most churches combined.

And you DO realize there are many ministers that will not go to BOTT because they believe he's too liberal?

Well, if BOTT truly is closed to licensed ministers and wives only, and these ministers are able to vote . . . I wouldn't worry about the haters too much.

Most of the people who smear AM do so because they're jealous. They've been sucking on prunes running a church of 50 for the past 30 years; don't have any kind of evangelism; don't give to missions or their community; and they're just upset because they've worked all these years with no results while AM has seen tremendous revival.

Jealous little crybabies.

Well it's ridiculous. *grin*

I remember at one of my first BOTT's (92 or so) there was some vile rumor going around that AM was pulling out of the UPC and going charasmatic. He even slightly addressed the rumor by making a statement concerning his love for the truth and doctrine and how he wouldn't throw away what his father spent his entire life working on.

The same thing was said of CLC in Stockton years ago . . . charasmatic, pulling out, losing doctrine, etc.

It's seems that if you 1) have a UPC church of over 1,000; 2) are actively involved in evangelism and community; 3) have a lot of visitors each week, etc --- you're assumed to be liberal or pulling out of the UPC.

It's just dumb.
