My Hospital Visit --Good News
Today was my day to visit Mercy Fairfield Hospital for an out-patient surgical procedure.
This had been in the works for several weeks but the scheduler had problems getting clearance/approval from some of my doctors.
When I got there this morning at 8:00 I went through the blood tests and EKG and got prepped for surgery.
The plan was to examine the walls of my bladder and remove tumors and/or take biopsies as needed.
Then to install a stent in my left ureter to keep a kidney stone contained until I could come back next week and have the stone crushed and removed.
The urologist gave me good news this morning before the procedure that there were no masses in my kidneys.
After I woke up from the procedure I was given more good news.
The stone had passed from the kidney and was in the urinary tract just below my bladder.
The doctor was able to crush it and remove all the fragments.
The bladder looks clean, no tumors there, and no biopsies were taken.
The kidneys look good also. No other stones.
My PSA (prostate specific antigen) results from a test about a month ago are good.
Since the stone is now gone there is no follow-up procedure at the hospital next week.
Next month some time I am to go see the Urologist as a follow up.
We expected good news.
We had Jewish and Christian prayers going up.
Thank you for your prayers and concern.
We did not tell a lot of people about this but decided to wait until it was over before passing on the news.

Re: My Hospital Visit --Good News
Good to hear it, Sam! My husband has had kidney stones a few times and had to have surgery twice. NO FUN. However, during the last one, they found a tiny tumor of cancer in his bladder which they just took out while they were in there, no radiation or anything! If they had not found it, they said it would have been silent, and he would have been gone by now......(then, a few years later he had surgery and radiation for testicular cancer......in the 1970's there was no hope but now a 95% cure rate.) We have a lot to be thankful for.
