The Bible and Elected Officials
I've posted a few threads with articles regarding certain elected officials. Some responses may be one of support while another may be one of disagreement. As I've said, it's not the person I dislike. It's their policies. So, I decided to do a keyword search on biblegateway.com and found this:
Romans 13:1-3...
1 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same.
I'm certainly not above having things put into perspective, which it was nice to be reminded of God's place in politics. Again, while I may not agree with the policies of an elected official, God ultimately has His hand in everything, even in politics (as much as the political system tries to edge Him out completely). So, I suppose I (as well as the rest of us should do) will keep on praying for God's direction and will for the people. Just my thoughts...

I removed myself from the political process. I live across from a fed building ...and because of that, I'm afraid to vocally pray for our leaders.

Oh, come on, H! Can't forget they're just regular people like you and me. Sure, they put on airs all day long, acting like they're better than the very people they're supposed to represent. They still need to be covered in prayer, especially since the decisions they make have such a great impact on everyday life for we the people. I know, I know. Politics makes me want to gag so many times, too. But, still, they need our prayers...

If politicians overrun us with govt corruption and taxes, then they don't get our prayers, but they get instead the barrel of a gun. That's what the 2nd amendment is for. "Occasionally the tree of Liberty must be watered with the blood of Patriots and Tyrants." — Thomas Jefferson

its been awhile since i have done a study on this, But i will take you to the book of acts chapter 3. When God healed a man through peter. They pharasees brought him in and said by what name and power do you do this.
He said by the name of Jesus. They told him not to preach in this name.
He replied look at it yourselves. is it better to obey God than Man.
The government has authority over us. But when the law or authority steps on the law and commands of God we are to Obey God.

best way to get political reform is to have God get a hold of them and baptize them With His Spirit!!

Hopefully, we don't see you in the news as a suspect if/when a politician you don't agree with gets the barrel. Your point of view makes it out that God can't do anything to change the political landscape, therefore causing you to resort to your own feelings and actions. I'm not saying your feelings are, in any way, wrong. I have my days of frustration like many do. But, when we start taking matters into our own hands (other than voting someone out of office), I think it just makes it worse for us...

...and, hopefully, the veil of deception would be removed as a result.

Re: The Bible and Elected Officials
I've been trying to do a search for a particular Scripture that says men sometimes appoint people into authority not of God's choosing.
When I can get to my other computer I can pull it up and post it.
Yes, God is in total control of His universe, yet He will not ursurp the free will He gave mankind.
Dagwood, your prayers are awesome and I thank you for them and believe God with you for God's purposes to be realized.
