JAKES in Closed Door Meeting With OBAMA!!!
CHICAGO - Barack Obama discussed Darfur, the Iraq war, homosexual rights, abortion and other issues Tuesday with Christian leaders, including conservatives who have been criticized for praising the Democratic presidential candidate.
Bishop T.D. Jakes, a prominent black clergyman who heads a Dallas megachurch, said Obama took questions, listened to participants and discussed his "personal journey of faith." The discussion "went absolutely everywhere," Jakes told The Associated Press, and "just about every Christian stripe was represented in that room."

Re: JAKES in Closed Door Meeting With OBAMA!!!
*** A LETTER OF RESPONSE FROM JAKES * * *
TO: Those who are bashing him for supporting Obama!!!
Some Answers to Your Questions
June 7th, 2008
I have read and respect the concerns of those who question Senator Obama’s politics. I even respect your right to question my congratulatory remarks toward him. Unlike many of you, I have met him and know him casually and I find it totally appropriate to congratulate him on his accomplishment - and more importantly to acknowledge the stride of this nation. I guess the problem comes from the fact that I tend to be a person who thinks in a compartmental fashion. That is to say I do not have to agree with anyone about everything to appreciate some things that they say or do. I would have thought that my statement, which said and I quote: “I hope that we can somehow merge the best ideas of our differences and emerge with a president who epitomizes our highest and best ideals” would have been enough to make clear that I had not endorsed anyone. Evidently it wasn’t completely clear and for that I apologize.
Frankly I find it problematic that any of us decide who is president by the color of their skin, though that doesn’t mean that this is not an accomplishment for our country. But I hope this professed colorblindness that some of you suggest that you have is not replaced with teaching Christians that there are only two moral issues that we should consider in a world that has global warming, a failing economy, middle class people moving into shelters with their children, millions of people dying of HIV/AIDS and so much more. I definitely think we should hold on to our values, but I hope those moral values aren’t limited to two issues when we have an ENTIRE bible FULL of issues to consider and a desperate need for leadership in many different areas. Our country, which was once a true superpower, is struggling in many areas and we will need an extremely effective leader to pull us up before we face some new tragedy or war that threatens devastation.
I have NEVER told my church who to vote for. I am the proud Pastor of both Democrats and Republicans. As such, I hope to meet with all of the candidates and question them first-hand about many of their stances on moral issues, as well as these leadership issues I have mentioned above. I will make my decision and vote accordingly. My vote has been a private matter and I intend to keep it that way. This is not a good climate even for Pastors who do endorse candidates, as the waters between religion and politics have grown quite toxic. But as we continue this process please understand that you don’t have to agree on every issue to applaud accomplishment and be respectful to each other. Being a Christian isn’t just proven by how you vote, but also how you treat each other and your willingness to understand others even when you do not agree.

Re: JAKES in Closed Door Meeting With OBAMA!!!
**EXCLUSIVE**
Obama To Launch 'Joshua Generation Project'
June 6, 2008
The Brody File has learned that in the next two weeks Barack Obama's campaign will unveil a major new program to attract younger Evangelicals and Catholics to their campaign.
It's called the "Joshua Generation Project." The name is based on the biblical story of how Joshua's generation led the Israelites into the Promised Land.
A source close to the Obama campaign tells The Brody File the following:
"The Joshua Generation project will be the Obama campaign's outreach to young people of faith. There's unprecedented energy and excitement for Obama among young evangelicals and Catholics. The Joshua Generation project will tap into that excitement and provide young people of faith opportunities to stand up for their values and move the campaign forward."
The official rollout won't be for another two weeks or so, but The Brody File has been told the activities will include house parties, blogging, concerts and more.
You can see the logo on this page above.
Obama spoke about the "Joshua Generation" in a speech he gave in Selma, Alabama in March of 2007. Read part of that speech below. It will give you an good idea of where the Obama campaign is heading with this effort:
Obama: "I'm here because somebody marched. I'm here because you all sacrificed for me. I stand on the shoulders of giants. I thank the Moses generation; but we've got to remember, now, that Joshua still had a job to do. As great as Moses was, despite all that he did, leading a people out of bondage, he didn't cross over the river to see the Promised Land. God told him your job is done. You'll see it. You'll be at the mountain top and you can see what I've promised. What I've promised to Abraham and Isaac and Jacob. You will see that I've fulfilled that promise but you won't go there. We're going to leave it to the Joshua generation to make sure it happens. There are still battles that need to be fought; some rivers that need to be crossed. Like Moses, the task was passed on to those who might not have been as deserving, might not have been as courageous, find themselves in front of the risks that their parents and grandparents and great grandparents had taken. That doesn't mean that they don't still have a burden to shoulder, that they don't have some responsibilities. The previous generation, the Moses generation, pointed the way. They took us 90% of the way there. We still got that 10% in order to cross over to the other side. So the question, I guess, that I have today is what's called of us in this Joshua generation? What do we do in order to fulfill that legacy; to fulfill the obligations and the debt that we owe to those who allowed us to be here today?"
The whole speech is here.
The Brody File said awhile back that the Obama campaign would be making a concerted effort to attrack Evangelicals and Catholics to their campaign.
Yes, the Obama campaign understands that the issue of abortion is a problem for some voters of faith. They respect that and understand if some just simply can't come on board because of that. However, they look at this project as a way of broadening the values discussion. Poverty, Darfur, Climate Change and yes, even the war are issues younger Evangelicals may be able to see eye to eye on with the Obama campaign.
Whatever you think of the "Joshua Generation Project," you have to give the campaign their due because they are making concerted efforts to NOT ignore faith voters. In my reporting, I can tell you this is not a contrived effort.
The folks behind this believe in not only the mission of winning over faith voters to Obama but the larger mission of not ignoring faith voters when it comes to politics.

Re: JAKES in Closed Door Meeting With OBAMA!!!
Obama has been asked repeatedly to present a copy of his birth
certificate. Obama has refused to supply a copy of his birth
certificate. Is Obama eligible to be president?
Barack Obama is not legally a U.S. Natural-born citizen according to the law on the books at the time of his birth, which falls between “December 24, 1952 to November 13, 1986? . Presidential office requires a natural-born citizen if the child was not born to two U.S. Citizen parents, which of course is what exempts John McCain though he was born in the Panama Canal. US Law very clearly stipulates: “…If only one parent was a U.S. Citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least ten years, at least five of which had to be after the age of 16.” Barack Obama’s father was not a U.S. Citizen and Obama’s mother was only 18 when Obama was born, which means though she had been a U.S. Citizen for 10 years, (or citizen perhaps because of Hawai’i being a territory) the mother fails the test for being so for at least 5 years **prior to** Barack Obama’s birth, but *after* age 16. In essence, she was not old enough to qualify her son for automatic U.S. Citizenship. At most, there were only 2 years elapsed since his mother turned 16 at the time of Barack Obama’s birth when she was 18 in Hawai’i. His mother would have needed to have been 16+5= 21 years old, at the time of Barack Obama’s birth for him to have been a natural-born citizen. As aformentioned, she was a young college student at the time and was not. Barack Obama was already 3 years old at that time his mother would have needed to have waited to have him as the only U.S. Cizen parent. Obama instead should have been naturalized, but even then, that would still disqualify him from holding the office.
*** Naturalized citizens are ineligible to hold the office of President. *** Though Barack Obama was sent back to Hawaii at age 10, all the other info does not matter because his mother is the one who needed to have been a U.S. Citzen for 10 years prior to his birth on August 4, 1961, with 5 of those years being after age 16. Further, Obama may have had to have remained in the country for some time to protect any citizenship he would have had, rather than living in Indonesia. Now you can see why Obama’s aides stopped his speech about how we technically have more than 50 states, because it would have led to this discovery. This is very clear cut and a blaring violation of U.S. Election law. I think the Gov. Of California would be very insterested in knowing this if Obama were elected President without being a natural-born U.S. Citizen, and it would set precedence. Stay tuned to your TV sets because I suspect some of this information will be leaking through over the next several days…”

I try to sit here and casually read posts without responding to comments like this one with:
"Thank goodness you're not God", or "I'm sure he'll be devastated to lose your support",
and fortunately I am able to restrain myself and not reply with such things.

Yes, he has. I didn't know he was supporting Obama. I'm shocked mainly because of all the garbage with Obama's pastor.
