Beards for Easter Drama
My husband and several of the men in my UPC church are growing beards for Easter! One of the men is the father of a well known poster here. Going around town my husband has made sure that EVERY pentecostal who either ignored him or turned their nose up he would go up to and tell them why he was growing a beard. I have mixed emotions about it. My husband's dad isn't hardly even speaking to him. I would love to know or maybe I would not want to know what the people on AFF think. Okay let the games begin!!!!!

Obviously I don't think there's anything wrong with a beard on a guy (see the avatar!). However, I've always thought it was hilarious that guys could grow them for the Easter plays and then have to shave immediately afterwards. For Pete's sake, if it's a sin, it's a sin. If not, then let them wear them whenever they want. All the UPC churches around here do this, and I have never understood it!

This is the first year we have actually grown them. My husband was the instigator of this. I guess my being uncomfortable with it is how I was raised. I'm just not used to it.

Well, if my Daddy doesn't go to heaven because he grew a beard for the church Easter drama, then something is wrong with this whole business!
If they grow them to be like the characters in the Bible, then when did it become wrong?

Well, it'll be funny to see because my daddy will have more on his face than his head (Buffy don't you tell him I said that)!

It's NOT wrong. I think it's wrong when they make them shave the next day though.

Not only did the men wear beards, but for our church Easter drama the women also wore makeup. Some of those plain-faced denim whales looked quite attractive dressed in ancient robes, jewelry and modern mascara!

Exactly my pastor does not preach against them. We sort of have a platform (I hesitate to say standard) dress code about them. But, my husband's previous job did not allow beards. Okay Renda, since you "outed' yourself!!! I agree with you if your dad misses heaven because of it. I am in trouble!!!!
