Re: JUST PREACHERS MAJOR Crackdown! turning WPF???
Well I saw the pictures of those cultists which were polygamists they didn't look like Pentecostal folks I know. To me they looked liked what they were.

Thank you Bro Epley you're the only Con that's stuck up for me and went to bat for me. All the other ones turned their back on me and split.

Spirit of Rebellion argument against beards does not wash today - and I am not convinced it ever did.

Let's assume that old, tired argument has merit; the one that facial hair should not be worn because it associates with a "spirit of rebellion" from the hippies.
And of course, we should trust in the revelation and/or opinions of some of these ole time pentecostal preachers on this.
Okay ... there is no "fashion" look that has more of a negative connotation right now than the pentecostal woman's "look."
It is associated with those cultists with the multiple wives and whatnot.
So ... shouldn't these same preachers be screaming about the big uncut hair and the long dresses and such should go because it is a negative worldly association and your "good should not be evil spoken of"?
If not ... why not?
Even much of "ole time pentecost" has retreated from these women's dress standards as salvational ... it's now just a "making sure" thing or "obey the pastor" thing.
How much more then, should it be cast aside because of association with something bad and negative - in this case, the cultists?
I stand amazed as the years go by how these preachers can tie themselves in knots with these tired arguments just to hold up an irrelevant religious tradition.
If there was an official World Championship in the old parlor game "Twister", probably seven of the top ten finishers would be clothesline pentecostal preachers.

Tim, I don't think they all look exactly pentecostals. They look more like they should be riding on a stage coach in the frontier days.
There is a mennonite community that comes into town once in a while and although they were dresses and no makeup, you can clearly see they are what they are.
The hippies are really plain too but you call tell what they are.
I think the Pentecostal ladies are a lot more fashionable and up to date then the others mentioned

Re: JUST PREACHERS MAJOR Crackdown! turning WPF???
I suppose the Jews of Jesus' day did not have beards? None of the Apostles?
I suppose they were white, Anglo-Saxon Jews?
It is a very dangerous thing to impose twenty-first century culture on Biblical theology. Their day was nothing like ours. Their politics were nothing like ours. Their style was nothing like ours.

Re: JUST PREACHERS MAJOR Crackdown! turning WPF???
Hippies? Folks I am forty years old and outside history books have no real point of reference to the so-called "Hippie movement".
I read somewhere that thirty to forty percent of US men have facial hair. Now someone is going to make an argument they are trying to be ID with a movement from the 1960's??
Baloney.

Preacher: "Church, you need to wear long sleeves or you will be lost and go to a devil's Hell!"
Saint: "Uhm...Pastor....could you show me that principle in the Word of God?"
Preacher: "You have the spirit of Korah!" "How dare you question the man of God?!"
Saint: "But Pastor, I just want to be able to teach this to my children from the Word of God."
Preacher: "The Word says to obey them that have the rule over you."
Yada, yada, yada....infinity......yada......
