Re: PO, Ferd and other Texans

PO I think some of these people have not thought out their responses but have a mentality of doing things the way it has always been done.

In one of the comments the person gave an example of Walmart closing due to folks crossing the border to buy tires from another state to avoid the paying of taxes. Actually, I think he is wrong for two reasons. One food items are not going to be taxed as Medina stated, and if he/she really knew where she stands on this would have known that, and secondly folks from across the border may come to buy their food here to avoid their taxes.

But the truth of the matter most folks shop where it is convient. Their time is worth more or as much as their money.

Folks living under the bridge due to these taxes is again rediculous. For one thing folks on a fixed income would have a greater chance of NOT losing their homes if there is no property tax. Their essential needs of food is still not taxed. So folks moving under the bridge again is an attempt to frighten people away from Medina.

As to who has the most to lose with this concept? I don't see anyone particular person would due to a sales tax. If you have the money to buy something then you probably have the money to pay the taxes as well. Whereas, someone that has paid for their property then lose it to unpaid taxes has the most to lose.

I think this is an effort to scare away folks to vote against Medina.

I think she is sincere is what she says and I believe she will do everything she can to make it happen.

Whether or not she can make it happen, I really don't know. But I do know this, nothing happens if you don't at least try.

I feel this way, Medina is my first choice, Perry my second, yet if Kay were to win it would not be the end of the world for me. I think this is the best time for me to say, wake up life-long politicans, I'm tired of your same ole same ole. I want the middle class protected and my rights restored that you have been giving away.

The last questions I posted had some relevant, legal, questions for me. One being - "How would she make up the difference she would have to forego in federal funds that have "strings" attached when she declares Texas' sovereignty?"

Another, and this is the main reason the FairTax is still on the back burner - "What guarantees would her proposals have to keep government from raising rates and/or expanding the base of the tax?"

So, I guess, I still have the rabble rouser video clip on my mind when I was first introduced to her. Just pounding fists and not thinking everything through. Yes, we need change, but just because I'm ticked off at things, I'm not going to throw my hat to political talking points. I'm just not sold.

And as was stated, we have purposely set up a weak Governorship in Texas. If she wants to get that radical, she needs to run for Lt. Governor. She isn't going to get that much done as Governor. It's just that simple.

I would like to see our Property Taxes done away because it does hurt the eldery and the retired most of all. I just am not sure her plan is going to work. I'm not voting for her on those talking points.

I think she said something about not sending it to Washington first and then getting only a portion of it back. Don't know if that would apply in all cases.

That is a legit question that I have had also. But I have no guarantees of that from whoever is elected.

That is odd that the Lt Governor would have more power than the governor???

It is more than the tax issue that I am supporting her on. I am also supporting her because of her stance on the gun control issue and her desire to have less government in people's lives.

Unless, something really big jumps up unexpected, and I would have to prove that out, she has my vote. It is not just a vote for her but against career politicans.

The legal tax issues are a very big deal to me in this election with Medina. She isn't going to accomplish half of what she is spouting off because she can't.

The NRA is backing Perry in this election. He has their endorsement.

Less government is a good thing. The tea party people are rising up and that alone will be a major force in keeping our politicians accountable. I just don't want to be a part of the radical tea party group. Seems we have two going on or maybe three.

We have the grassroots, the radicals (Confederate flag waving, unleashed cowboy Bubba types that are giving the thing a bad name) and the GOP trying to take the whole thing over. It's a big split.

I'm not sure it will if we keep voting for the same ole same ole.

Not really that surprised NRA is backing Perry, he has a long political history. That is just the way things are.

You know you've lost ground when yesterday's status quo is today's radical idea.

I agree that we can't have the same 'ol same 'ol. Yes, he does have a very long political history. It's just that we worked with him a lot during our homeschool days and he was right there with us on every issue - holding back the hounds. I came to really like him a lot.

But, listen, it will also be a win for us if Medina were to get in. I am reading and searching all of this out. My only problem is that I don't see how she will be able to work her tax plans. She said on a few of her interviews that these things need to be worked out. I want her to work that out before I elect her. That is just too much like what Obama keeps saying. I don't like it. It's too uncertain. But if she irons that out and I find that out, I will post it here.

I've asked several of her supporters and they have no answers. They are saying it's a good question, but they don't know. They just keep saying, "We want to own our property and keep our guns." LOL! I need some economic and fiscal policy to go with that.

It wouldn't hurt my feelings if she won, but I'm voting for Rick Perry.
