A Christmas Tree is not the season make.
Having a Christmas tree does make the birth of Christ more important to anyone.
It is the swearing off of the celebration in the season that celebrates the birth of Christ, that lowers the importance of his birth.
Not to you as a Christian but to the world that has commercialized and hyjacked the season.
To those that watch you on your life....
What better testimony than to celebrate and let others know that for you and your house you are one that is real in the season....
That can be done with or without a tree....

If I put up a tree, I would worship it daily. It's a good thing my bishop keeps me from doing that and a number of other things too!

I decorate it because of the season.
Much like we put out flowers in the spring to denote the season.
We drink apple cider, eat apple pie.
We eat turkey......
Do I worship the turkey, the cider or the apple pie and not Christ...
No.
It does appear to me that many do worship the Apple pie.
But that is another story...
Simply decorating things around you in the season does not denote worship or assimilate to the birth of Christ.
It is simply part of the season....
To answer your question, my Tree or decorations has nothing to do with the birth of Christ....
With all of the hoopla of the season.
The commercialism, the party's etc...
I will not take Christ out of the season because of what others do or have changed it into...

Neck it was YOU who implied if we didn't put up a tree and string lights we were not remembering His birth.

Are you sure about that?

So using a pagan date for a celebration for which the Bible says nothing somehow makes it more "important"? How exactly does that work?

Uhhmmm...I don’t know what you use for your source material, but the RCC hijacked that pagan "holy day" long before the RCC and its daughters commercialized it.

"What better way"? How about by doing what the people of God always did in the Bible; by separating themselves in appearance and in activities from the ways of their surrounding unregenerate world.

It can also be done on a day other than one set aside for a pagan celebration.

I do enjoy the holiday season although I am aware of alot of the origins of the holiday season.
I will take a present that is green and has a picture of dead president.
You can have my address if you want to send me some.

No real problem exists over the use of "The Name" in everthing else done in the Church. Why then should there exist great controversy over the use of the "The Name of the Godhead" in water baptism?
