This all seems so inconsistent. If these places are filled with people who are dressed in an ungodly, revealing way, rather than trying to find some costume to wear there, wouldn't it just be better to stay away?
Well didn't say ungodly, but you do bring up a good point I think.

If you have strong feelings about it, or feel intimidated on beaches or cruise ship atmospheres, I would encourage you to follow your conscience in that regard.

We have learned to be who we are no matter where we go, and I respect Kristin's decision to dress the girls as she deems appropriate. We have not excluded beaches from places we visit, but I fully understand if that is ones choice.

Having traveled to 15 countries and seen some of the finest art and culture the world has to offer, I assure you beaches are not at the top of the "must do" list for me.

yes, all shirt tails must be tucked in as per district dress code where I'm at ... and in NYC as per the principal.
Yes they have a dress code put out by the district.Where they all have to wear a uniform which are certain colors they all must wear.Which was good maybe the first or second year but then the girls were allowed to dress however as long as they wore the right color.

Re: They're finally here .... Ski Skirts ... PTL

My wife and I have discussed these issues too many times recently. She comes from a pretty conservative background. I grew up Baptist and therefore have a slightly different point of view. We have concluded that we want to raise our children knowing the principles of modesty. 1) Don't draw attention to yourself. 2) Don't dress seductively. If you can't pass both tests, you are probable somewhere you shouldn't be.

We have no problem with wide-legged shorts or culottes for our little girl when playing sports, riding bikes, etc.

A few years back, when I was a Youth Pastor, we participated in a sectional canoe-a-thon to raise money for Sheaves for Christ. I remember the ladies were in full skirts, etc. As expected, the canoes started tipping over and the occupants were all soaked. The soaked ladies, with clinging clothes, were much more immodest than if they had been more appropriately dressed. Just silly!

Sounds well balanced. Our girls wear culottes for sports as well.

BTW Welcome aboard Caesar!

In this particular instance, I don't think it is that the wearers are concerned about modesty. It's probably more because they believe pants are a man's garment and shouldn't be worn, ever. Because I don't see how traditional ski pants could possibly be considered immodest by anyone's standards. They're padded, not tight-fitting..... just not immodest. Unless you believe that it should never be acknowledged that women have legs.

I broke my ankle skiing. I'm afraid to get out there in pants much less a skirt I couldn't move in.
