What I perceived was not based on fairy tales, it was based on the realities of watching FOX News and listening to Limbaugh over a period of time.

Nothing Limbaugh says means anything to me anymore. He's a right winged shock jock for talk radio.

When I noticed what I did concerning FOX News and the way they do their business, I was a little bothered but I realize that sometimes they just come across as offensive and I don't think it done on purpose.

My impression is based on a culmination of many stories reported, how the stories are reported, and the nuances of the language that they decide to use.


Ever been around a person and you just had a gut feeling that they really didn't like you? Really difficult to prove, right?

This is similar to that-- it's impossible to nail down exactly one instance, it's a culmination of instances that has given me the same gut feeling over and over again.

Many news outlets were present but in lue of what obama has said about fox in the past, it was obvious why he did what he did.

Amber Alerts are commonly issued for situations of kidnapping more than "missing." Most often, these particular alerts are issued with knowledge of the suspect. i.e. green Chevy pick-up, late 80's, license plate #, etc. Where I live, Amber Alerts are seen on lighted signs on the freeways. There isn't space for a photo. The ones that air on TV usually have a photo. The law officials send these alerts for cases they feel may be quickly solved with such a campaign. It is up to the investigators to determine what children are given an Amber Alert. I don't think it has anything to do with race but rather the investigation of the crime. Some situations are not broadcast because they think it could further threaten the safety of the child. Most of the ones I have seen were Mexican children. Should I believe they are racists because it is mostly Mexicans? Never! Not a chance!

Ya'll really need to read up on the Amber Alert system. Not all missing children satisfy the criteria put forth by the justice system for issuing an Amber Alert. It has NOTHING to do with race, and tv stations don't edit them out like that.

Not to sound like I'm stereotyping, but at least 3 of the 4 sound like hispanic names to me. Doesn't sound much like a "racially" filtered system.

The main criteria are (recommended by the U.S. Dept. of Justice):

* There is reasonable belief by law enforcement an abduction has occurred

* The abduction is of a child age 17 years or younger

* The law-enforcement agency believes the child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death

* There is enough descriptive information about the victim and abduction for law enforcement to issue an AMBER Alert to assist in the recovery of the child

* The child’s name and other critical data elements, including the Child Abduction flag, have been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) computer



Amber Alerts are NOT designed to keep a running tally of all missing children.

Correct. AND, they're not going to issue an Amber Alert every time a runaway parent takes a kid out of state, unless they believe that parent actually intends to harm the child.
