But this part of what bro. Wright had to say disturbed me:
"Second, this group wants to reach the world through "relevancy" or "relating" to the culture of this generation. A man who preached this past General Conference uses people in ministry in his church who have NOT been baptized in Jesus name and who have NOT received the Holy Ghost."
I dont know what your thoughts are on that Keith, but that kind of practice is something I generally dont agree with.
I have no problem using someone who has'nt got all of the parts, along as we have clear understanding of our mission, and values and doctrinal focus. But that's me I am willing to be a risk taker, but the minimum for me in a teaching position is agreement with our covenant.

But keep in mind that the relevancy is a big tent, and you can't pin it down to one expression.

Hearsay?

Dan...take some time to read the blogs...although you probably have and are probably alright with them... knowing your propensity for all things anti-standard/doctrine...

Words are important whether some here believe it or not... What was said considering the young man in question was the justification of cursing/tattoo's... among other interesting opinions... and VL and I have communicated via pm...but again it's the same old story different shoes...

Some here of course defend these things which is the what AFF has become or so it seems...

I think that what will happen with those who are called "emergent" will be what has happened in the past...they will "emerge" with main stream Christianity and of course there will be no difference of doctrine..they will accept universal salvation for all...

They may deny it now but it eventually it will happen...imo...

We'll just have to wait and see...

To be simple, what you rather be, emerging or submerging?

Relevant or irrelevant?

I don't think anyone has used the word emergent other than those who want to derogatively label this group ....

BTW, I think Keith used the word emerging ...

Seems like some of these are trying to bring the UPC into the 20th century, then maybe some might join us in the 21st century.
