The last 2 nights I have sat and worshiped in the First Annual RAIN conference sponsored by the upc.. RAIN is Reaching African Immigrants in North America... its a product of a burden the UPC has for African ministries and our African daughter work was fortunate enough to have the first conference here! It was awesome and we are so excited! Seeing more and more Africans come in daily is such a blessing! We look forward to one day being there with them in their country to worship with them there but until that day we will be happy with fellowship here with them...

It was funny because they introduced my hubby as their white african brother who aint seen africa but is more African than some of them LOL... he loved that... These people are such a blessing and we love them... and I personally love the UPC! Had a wonderful time of fellowship after with the African church family and many of the officials from Missouri and I have to say... I love their burden for Africa!!!!!
AG,

Is the daughter work from your church made up of Nigerians? I am just wondering because I know there is a Nigerian Pentecostal Church in Houston. I know a lady that I use to work with that attends the one here.

I agree with the concept that we cannot orchestrate change except from within. You have no influence from without. There are many things to consider though. I will not elaborate.

I do agree that we should pray for pastors and leadership. I have made it a practice of mine to be an armour-bearer in prayer for leadership. They are in a no-win situation. No matter what they do, decision they make, another always has a differing opinion, or would have done it a different way.

Since it is God who puts people into position, it will be God who takes them out...case in point: King Saul & David. I think the safest side to be on is the side that David took...he refused to take King Saul out even though he had already been anointed King by the prophet at God's command.

God's timing is everything. Love can resolve situations that appear insurmountable. Love always wins.

Blessings,
Rhoni
Bless you too, Rhoni.

That's also another point I would like to make.

Those who love to take pot-shots and make snide remarks, or even veiled humor aimed at us who are part of AFF and still belong to UPCI churches... why don't you just imagine for a bit that someone is continually aiming at your group... your church, your pastor, your preachers, your articles of faith.... see how long you'd sit on the Apostolic Friends Forum and not respond.

The UC's have left... there really is no need for it to come from either side any longer. IMO

I hope that you stick around, sister. You know the funny thing is that I have met two of the posters here on AFF that bash the UPC the most and they are so nice. In fact, you would be hard pressed to find better examples of Christian brothers than those two.

I wish they could see how it hurts many of us that are still in the UPC when they write such horrible things over and over and over again. It really does start to feel personal when they begin their onslaught of bashing.

We have people from every country represented. Both of our pastors are Nigerian and we have Kenyans and pretty much every country is or has at one time been represented.

This was the first conference sponsored by the UPC... the turnout from other churches was not good but our church turned up which helped a lot. We look forward to hosting it again in the future. And ohhhhh the food! I have not had a lot of African food before but it was indeed good!

Prejudice and bigotry is not always about race CB1, and is often veiled in humor and/or sarcasm. Wonder what Jesus thinks of these whiney-hineys, and hate-mongers? And it goes both ways for all the whatever steppers that get bashed, and the liberals that get snide remarks made to them. It does hurt my heart so I can only imagine what it does to our Father. I am about done here myself.

Cindy,

Please don't leave. We need someone with balance to stabilze the forum. The words you have spoken are how we all feel some of the time no matter which side of the fence we are on.

I have to agree with you. It does go both ways. See I am not UPCI, was raised with the idea they were to liberal. (imagine that)
I have family in the UPCI, ALJC, AMF, Independent, and family is AAFCJ. My views are more liberal than almost all of them. My views do not come from the church I associate with as much as it does from my personal walk with God.
I am not a one stepper, and yet do not see myself as a three stepper.
I get hit from many sides. I don't fit in many places. You know that old saying about a round peg in a square hole? I must be some new shape because I don't seem to fit in any hole. I attend where I feel the love of God and because I love the people I go to church with.

It is annoying to constantly feel like you are being beat up because of what you believe. My liberal views on dress and hair gets me hit by the conservative lot, my views on it taking more than just belief to be saved gets me hit by the liberals.
Where is the balance at?

Love, Rhoni
I will say the good usually outweighs the bad, and I am noticing even some I was wary of have turned out to be very different than how I really thought they were. Case in point OneAccord, when I first started posting he seemed to pretty much stick to the Welcome Page. I had no idea what he was going through, and he turned out to have such a sweet spirit even when going through a trial. And I do sincerely think highly of most people here. I may be too over sensitive sometimes I guess. Will pray about it though.
