It is a safe statement to say most constituents of UPC churches have and watch some TV programming. Is this not true in your particular setting?

It is now.... I kinda said it tounge in cheek. Back when I was growing up you either did not have a TV or hid it when the preacher came knocking!! LOL!!! I saw you on TV best Wife Swap ever!!!!!

I'm not offended by any of these pictures of this gal, BUT if I were a UPC young lady and was told all my life that these kinds of clothes were wrong, I would be very confused that this girl was promoted at youth congress. I know that she didn't wear these things there, but trust me these pictures will get around. I just think it's a very inconsistent message that the leaders are sending, if they really want their girls to hold to strict standards.
And, by the way, I wouldn't wear these dresses that she had on in these pictures and I'm a certified lib on here!!  However, I don't doubt her walk with God at all; it's just not how I would feel comfortable dressing.

What I see in these posts is that there is a maturity taking place.
It is not necessary to condemn an entire medium because evil has a presence there. Nor is it expedient to reject ones entire testimony because of a different dress code.
EX: I would love to hear TJ Jakes preach at our church in spite of my distaste for his dress style. Christian disciplines and convictions are very personal in nature and should not be a primary measuring stick. Those who would demand a cookie cutter mentality live with insecurity.

But Stephen, the UPC does want to demand a cookie cutter mentality concerning standards and that's why I think it was confusing. JMHO!

Sherri, It's entirely possible that things have changed/are changing a wee bit since 20 years back.
So you will stand by the sidelines and jeer that it did not used to be this way - back in the day?
