The Love of God
Frederick M. Lehman, 1917
1. The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin.
* Refrain:
Oh, love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure—
The saints’ and angels’ song.
2. When hoary time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hills and mountains call,
God’s love so sure, shall still endure,
All measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adam’s race—
The saints’ and angels’ song.
3. Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.

I Need You More Today
As Performed By The Bishops
Verse I
There are decisions I can’t make on my own
And there are trials I must face all alone
But you said you’d walk with me
Down life’s troubled road
And you said come unto me
I’ll bear your heavy load
Chorus
I need you more today than I did yesterday
Mountains are higher, rivers are wider
I need you more today than I did yesterday
Help me remember I need you more today
Verse II
When I wake up in the morning
And I fear to face the day
Let me feel your gentle hand leading the way
Yesterday has come and gone
With those trials far behind
But I’m ever learning Lord
And everyday I find
Repeat chorus twice, then
Dear Lord remind me, I need you more today

I've had a lot of troubles and trials in my little life's span
When I'm standing alone and the battle gets hot I always do the best I can
Must have crossed a million valleys and shed a millon tears
But when I come to the river of Jordan, hallelujah! then I'll have no fears
Then I'll have no fears
There's been a lot of people talking 'bout me since I walked this narrow way
this is just another little valley, came through it when I prayes
I've climed a lot of high mountains, crossed a lot of little streams
But when I see old Jordan cold an dark, that'll be the last for me
That'll be the last for me

I Can't Complain
I've had my sad times
And I've had hills to climb
Then come the bad times
Then a weary mind
But when I look about and weigh these things all out
All of the good things outweigh the bad things
I can't complain
My God is good to me
Oh, yes, He's good to me
More than this world to me
He's so good to me
His Spirit came to me
And gave me victory
My God is so good to me I can't complain
Sometimes the clouds hang low
I'd like to see them go
And sometimes I've questioned Oh, Lord tell me why so much pain
But He knows what's best for me although I cannot see
I can only say thank you Lord
You're so good to me

Nearer My God To Thee
Now, somebody see if they can find "Nearer My God To Thee."
1. Nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
E'en though it be a cross that raiseth me,
still all my song shall be,
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
2. Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down,
darkness be over me, my rest a stone;
yet in my dreams I'd be
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
3. There let the way appear, steps unto heaven;
all that thou sendest me, in mercy given;
angels to beckon me
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
4. Then, with my waking thoughts bright with thy praise,
out of my stony griefs Bethel I'll raise;
so by my woes to be
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
5. Or if, on joyful wing cleaving the sky,
sun, moon, and stars forgot, upward I fly,
still all my song shall be,
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

Redeemer
Verse 1
Who taught the sun where to stand in the morning?
And who told the ocean you can only come this far?
And who showed the moon where to hide 'til evening?
Whose words alone can catch a falling star?
Chorus
I know my Redeemer lives
I know my Redeemer lives
Let all creation testify
Let this life within me cry
I know my Redeemer lives
Verse 2
The very same God who spins things in orbit
Runs to the weary the worn and the weak
And the same gentle hands that hold me when I'm broken
They conquered death to bring me victory
Chorus
Bridge
He lives to take away my shame
Oh, He lives, forever I'll proclaim
That the payment for my sin
Was the precious life He gave
But now He's alive and there's an empty grave
I know my Redeemer lives
I know my Redeemer lives
Chorus
I know He lives
I walk with Him
I talked with this morning
The grave is empty
I know, I know my Redeemer lives

Songs that Build Your Faith Up

This reminds me of a song Sis. Joy Haney wrote and recorded
entitled "Pray In The Spirit"
When your heart is heavy, can't find your way,
Burdens on your shoulder, heavily lay.
Problems and situations seem to hide the light of day;
When you can't seem to make it,
Just take the time to pray.
Cho.
Pray in the Spirit, pray to the Lord,
Pray in the morning, let your soul soar,
Receive from the Master, all you long for,
For only in His Presence, there's fulness of joy.
When you need inspiration, things to turn out right.
Can't find the answer, life's one long night.
Pray though you're worry, but don't give up the fight,
Your battle's almost over, there's victory in sight.
Cho.
Pray in the Spirit, pray to the Lord,
Pray in the morning, let your soul soar.
Receive from the Master, all you long for.
For only in His Presence, there's fulness of joy.
"But ye beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy
faith, praying in the Holy Ghost". Jude 20

Songs that Build Your Faith Up
An old hymn that comes to mind and I love to sing throughout
the day, entitled "Humble Thyself To Walk With God". I love to
substitute "myself" and sing it from a personal standpoint. Humble
myself and the Lord will draw near me. Humble myself and His Presence
shall cheer me.
I.
If thou wouldst have the dear Savior from heaven
Walk by thy side from the morn till the even,
There is a rule that each day you must follow:
Humble thyself to walk with God.
Chorus:
Humble thyself and the Lord will draw near thee,
Humble thyself and His presence shall cheer thee;
He will not walk with the proud or the scornful,
Humble thyself to walk with God.
II.
Just as the Lord, in the world’s early ages,
Walked and communed with the prophets and sages,
He will come now if you meet the conditions:
Humble thyself to walk with God.
III.
Just as the stream finds a bed that is lowly,
So Jesus walks with the pure and the holy;
Cast out thy pride, and in heartfelt contrition
Humble thyself to walk with God.
You don't hear these old thought provoking hymns much
anymore. Maybe a thread entitled "Songs That Stir The Heart Up",
would be in order!
Blessings,
Falla39
