No thanks I don't stand outside of no body's house.

Tell you what if you are in our area come on by. We'll drink coffee or coke, or tea. or what ever we have that you like. Give my wife a hour or two and you can eat with us.

It wouldn't work with me either, if the pastor is off limits to me and I'm not good enough to come in his house, then he's not good enough to get my hard earned tithes.

Being raised in houston churches it was not uncommon for there to be a "don't just drop by" mentality...

Frankly, a lot of people in our church didn't even know where the pastor lived or had certainly never been over there.

I guess I took that to Oklahoma with me....and it works just fine. The people I pastor are happy that i don't just show up...and they are just as happy that I get the same courtesy.

They know they are welcome to talk with me...but a phone call is expected and appreciated.

Some of the churches I've been in and around... the family is more like Royalty than just normal folks.. somewhat elevated from the fray if you will..

Truthfully I CAN"T stand that spirit...

but it is inbred in them..

Some folks still have it. When my pastor moved here, he announced to the congregation that we were his family and that we could drop by any time and that he may do the same.

I would never just drop by his house but it was nice to know that he felt that way about the folks he pastored.

To make sure that there is no misunderstanding ...... if there is a need.... our door is open.....we just enjoy our little nook of the world.... about once a year we will host a big come and GOOOOOOOOOOO party.... either in the summer in the back by the pool... or around the holidays.....

I grew up with my grandparents and the believe in hospitality. If someone came by and mama didn't have a pie or cake or home made cookies, she was so embarrassed. She felt that she wasn't hospitable. I was taught to make guest feel welcome and wanted.

I'll say one think though , if I go by someone house and they act as if they don't want me there or don't invite me in, I will NEVER go back.
