Until that day comes, with joy I'll carry on!!!
God bless you KBTW!

I can't see God putting those "books" on a shelf for ever after the judgment. And seeing how God doesn't rejoice in judgment but desires love and learning I tend to believe they will be of some greater purpose. Perhaps reviewing the tomes of Heaven will shed far more light on God's own nature and grace itself with ever unfolding understandings.

One thing is interesting. The term "books" is the same term from which we get the word "bible". It might be that the Bible we have is all that we need thus far... but the Bible in Heaven includes everyone that has ever existed and is more like a library holding untold volumes of knowledge and understanding.

I reject the BORING and HYPER SPIRITUAL PLATONIC notions of Heaven and Eternity that I've heard. For me... Heaven and Eternity has to be BETTER than earth. I can't see it being an eternal "song service" with us strumming harps as the ages pass into infinity. There's something in the human spirit that desires so much more than what we have here... I believe that desire will be fulfilled in every category.

Essentially the New Creation will be everything God intended to come from Eden in the beginning. God is REDEEMING His creation... NOT scrapping it for some wispy ethereal existence. When God created the cosmos... He said that it was GOOD. A New Creation would only restore all things to that state of goodness... and with Him being personally present in the body of Jesus Christ... it becomes better than good... it becomes the GREATEST EVER.

I get so excited. I feel like I'm wanting to jump out of my seat and pack right now! LOL

Re: Questions about Eternity:

Could you imagine taking the hand of the woman (or man, ladies) that you spent your entire life with and walking with her along the beach to a place of such beauty and elegance where the two of you can sit, eat, and partake in all the joys and memories you have together... and begin dreaming of all the experiences yet to come??? Can you imagine the joy in a widow's heart when she takes the man who was her husband (strickin with Alzheimers when living) by the hand and dances with him under the celestial moonlight of the New Heavens, her head on his shoulder once more...he now remembering her name and telling her how much he has always loved her? Imagine the joy between a father and son (separated from each other on account of a drunk driver) as they throw frisby together in a field of the New Earth, making up for lost time.

Dude, I'm about to cry...

C'mon. The traditional RELIGIOUS notions of Heaven and Eternity are lame. The reality is going to be so much greater!

I praise my Lord for this. He's so good!

ME TOO!!!!!! This is just so much more scripturally based than the "pie in the sky" and heavenly harp strumming throughout the ages!!!!! The prophets in the OT spoke constantly of the new earth, and how this has been overlooked for so long, I don't know, but I do believe God is restoring the church bit by bit, precept upon precept, line upon line. We are constantly building on the foundations that others have laid.

It is a JOY to be a servant of God here, and yet, that joy is not to be compared to what He has prepared for us after we are changed into his likeness!!!!!

Re: Questions about Eternity:

Well, I just had another thought. What about that scripture where Jesus says that there will be no marriage, or giving in marriage in heaven? I wonder that meant.... but can you imagine Aquila, after your definition of being able to spend time with your spouse... what about all the divorces, and remarriages and such? What a mess that would be. I guess we won't know all of it until that time comes, but .... just some thoughts I was just having... questions... thinking about it all...

So heaven WON'T be one long unending UPC song service???? AMEN!!!!!

(I always thought the 'unending song service' thing was more like the Far Side's version of hell where all the people who drive too slow in the fast lane are shown to a room filled with little chubby kids, each holding a tuba.)

Re: Questions about Eternity:

You see... sometimes we approach the subject of Christ's return with dread and awkward hope. But many admit they hope Jesus doesn't come today...even if they are living right. Why? They have dreams. They want to take the family to Paris. They want to watch their kid play. The way we've taught about Heaven they'd loose everything their heart longs for. Is it any wonder they hope Jesus doesn't come today?

BUT... if we understand Christ's intentions for us with regards to our eternity... we'd be shaking with anticipation.

Yes, even so come quickly Lord Jesus!!!!! There are questions, and many things not completely clear... but one thing we do know... and see from scripture... it is going to be BETTER than the Garden of Eden - how AWESOME is that!!!!

Can you imagine the joy of knowing that your spouse is being punished in eternal torment, and justly so?
