Saul and the school of prophets in 1st Samuel and later David dancing in the streets is about all they have from their proof texting minus the other 3500 years of Judaism and later Christian history. Maybe they can bring in dancing at the festivals, but that was more of a community thing to bring together the folks and maintain community between the tribes and inter-tribal clans (Feast of Tabernacles + Strong Drink in Duet.) than a spiritual thing and wasnt listed in the Mosaic law as a requirement or even touched upon.

Its just hay, wood and stubble left from the 2nd Great Awakening in America mutated from ultra-holiness methodist roots to our version of Pentecostalism.

Thats the direct lineage of it for those of us in America. Along with Victory Marches and hooping from the black churches. Its just filler that has no nutritional value and may even give folks cancer after prolonged exposure.

Its a slow day, lets build a list and deconstruct it to figure out what simple primitive Christianity would look like. Its been heavily on my mind since I am starting a church and I am really struggling on what is necessary to touch our culture and what it basically Churchianity.

Tomorrow im visiting Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale and going to visit it a few more times. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE in this area loves them ... even quasi-believers who only visit every so often.. never hear a bad word about them. They are on of the 10 largest churches in the nation running over 10k in multiple services and teach straight expository scripture. I really am trying to separate and excise the junk that is rattling around in my brain that I equate with Christianity and is just filler from past cultural/generational expressions.

Applause for you in your search. May God lead you. One thing we know for sure...modern Christianity is not effecting America like the early church effected its culture.

Are you sure? I read in Philippians 5:17 that we're all encouraged to do so!
