In the country it is dark and if you break down you are at the mercy of whoever may pass by.

Been there done that.

In the city, unless you live in a bad area, you have street lights and folks to hear what is going on.

Thankfully I have a cell phone, but when I broke down in the country it was in a no tower area. It did me no good.

I am not a hunter but I have kept the guns my dad left me in the house for protection. In particular a shotgun.

I did not want a pistol in the house while my kids were growing up but now that they are gone I am about to buy either a 38 revolver or 9mm pistol and my wife and I are going to take shooting lessons and get carry permits.

The house across the street from us got burglerized in broad daylight last week while my wife was at home so I want her to have a pistol handy.

It's easier to hit your target with a shotgun. Just point in the general direction and fire.

I wouldnt buy a 38 revolver. if you are looking at a .38, go with a 389 simi auto. (see if you can find the big clip it holds 16 rounds)

revolvers are best in big caliber. but even still a 9mm or even a big bore .45 simi auto is better home protection,

you dont have to worry about accuracy in a small place like a house and you dont want a gun with a long barrell because it can get caught in confined spaces.
