poor comparison. Matt 24 actually says "you see things" not "they will see"
In a sense those letter where written for them addressed to but eternal things such as kingdom, salvation, prayer, etc...... apply to all saints then and now.

When Jesus said to them "Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name", do you believe that the disciples expect that they personally would be delivered to tribulation, they they personally would be killed and that they personally would be hated or do you think the disciples were thinking those words were not for them but for individuals 2000+ years in the future?

Those words were for THEM and they also were for US. The same as the rest of the New Testament. The words of Jesus are SPIRIT and they are LIFE.
Some people never learn to PERSONALIZE the word of God. This life becomes so awesome!

I have not yet listened, but I will soon. I wanted to share this anyway.
I had a bit of a revelation tonight that I think God has been leading me up to. Nothing profound at all but different for me. We had a man who has spent the majority of his life on the mission field speaking at our churcht the last few services. Robert Forbush, tremendous man of God. Well tonight there was a very different move of God and he decided to put his sermon aside and just share some of his experiences in different countries. As he began to share I was astounded at how much he knew about the church throughout the world and his burden for the whole church of God! I realized how limited I am in my burden for the Kingdom. I have a burden for some of the souls that I see on a daily basis and that's about it. I was in travail before the Lord the other day and before I could even realize what I was praying I began praying that God would bring kings and princes and whole nations to a revelation of Himself. It shocked me a bit when i realized what I had just prayed! This is totally out of my normal mindset and prayer life but it seems that God is trying to enlarge my vision and burden to the whole world!

Re: Stunning Sermon On The Great Tribulation
And I must say...the more I hear from Mike Bickle (especially his eschatology) the more I like him. Not sayin I agree with all his theology but he definitely has some great insights.

I'm all for personalizing the Word of God, but in this passage Jesus is speaking of specific events in a specific time frame to which a specific group of people would see.
Mat 24:2 And He said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, not one stone here will be left upon another, which will not be torn down."

It is not the end of the age just yet.

And so in the same chapter when Jesus said:
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened , and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken : 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn , and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Matt. 24:29-31
