Re: I Can't Stand Romney.

Maybe the Republicans really want to keep the mandatory healthcare bill despite all their promises to overturn it? Congress hasn't overturned it yet since Republicans became the majority in the House. Remember that Romney got a mandatory health care bill passed in Massachusetts when he was Governor. So the game Congress plays that "we can't come together" will continue. Romney will most likely veto any bill overturning the healthcare law since he is in favor of mandating jobless people to purchase healthcare insurance.

Not endorsing or supporting either candidate, but the bashing Reagan is a lie. Video included in link.

Video Of Newt Bashing Reagan Is Bogus

There's a short excerpt of a 1988 C-SPAN video purportedly showing Newt Gingrich bashing Reagan when talking about how Bush, Sr. should run. As I suspected, it's edited to give a false impression.

http://www.riehlworldview.com/carniv...-is-bogus.html
From Michael Reagan:

Quote:
“I am deeply disturbed that supporters of Mitt Romney are claiming that Newt Gingrich is not a true Reaganite and are even claiming that Newt was a strong critic of my father.

“Recently I endorsed Newt Gingrich for president because I believe that Newt is the only Republican candidate who has both consistently backed the conservative policies that my father championed and the only Republican that will continue to implement his vision.

“It surprises me that Mitt Romney and his supporters would raise this issue — when Mitt by his own admission voted for Jimmy Carter and Walter Mondale who opposed my father, and later supported liberal Democrat Paul Tsongas for president.

“As governor of Massachusetts, Romney’s achievement was the most socialistic healthcare plan in the nation up until that time.

Re: I Can't Stand Romney.

Mitt is the best suited for our current situation. Newt is exciting but the Demos will have a field day tearing him to pieces!! Rick Santorum is a great guy but won't be able to win the nomination, would make a great VP. Ron Paul has some good ideas but won't get near the nomination.
Romney should be able to credibly bring his business experience to bear on our screwed up government spending. He is a family man, has common values with Christians, though not doctrine, I will vote for a Mormon with values similar to mine, before I vote a Christian whose life values are not. Romney real believes in the family, life, and other Christian social values.

Newt's moon state, finished me off. He will implode with stuff that the Demos will make him out to be a nut.

Re: I Can't Stand Romney.

Welcome to Obamacare!

Santorum: “What Governor Romney just said is that government-run top-down medicine is working pretty well in Massachusetts, and he supports it. Now, think about what that means — going up against Barack Obama…you are going to claim, well, top-down government-run medicine on the federal level doesn’t work, and we should repeal it. And he’s going to say, wait a minute, Governor. You just said that top-down government-run medicine in Massachusetts works well. Folks, we can’t give this issue away in this election. It is about fundamental freedom.”

Romney: (referring to individual mandate) “We are insisting on personal responsibility.”

Santorum: “Does everybody in Massachusetts have a requirement to buy health care?”

Romney:
“Everyone has a requirement to either buy it or pay the state for the cost of providing them free care.”

Santorum: “Just so I understand this, in Massachusetts, everybody is mandated as a condition of breathing in Massachusetts, to buy health insurance, and if you don’t, and if you don’t, you have to pay a fine.”

Romney: “First of all, it's not worth getting angry about.”

Romney said he will repeal Obamacare, and I believe he has character and will do what he says. I understand the position he was in as governor of a very liberal state.

Think about it, he could have pursued a liberal political career, but he like Ronald Reagan has chosen to become a conservative and to fight for the future of our country. He is not a liberal, he has been conservative and wise in money matters, he gives hugely to charity and his church. His values are deeply enbedded. He is the very best suited for our country at this time, I believe he has a backbone to do the right things.

We have had "conservatives of convenience" in the past. Romney is settled, he has made his fortune and can therefore be his own person to do what is right. BTW: He will not try to convert the country to Mormonism!! LOL

Does your state mandate auto insurance? Yes, do you want to repeal that law? No, and neither do want to relegate it to the federal government.

New Hampshire is a very liberal state and run 85% by the Democrats, a conservation governor in that state is very limited in what he can do.

Norm Coleman, a prominent advisor to Romney:

"We’re not going to do repeal.
You’re not going to repeal Obamacare… It’s not a total repeal... You will not repeal the act in its entirety, but you will see major changes, particularly if there is a Republican president... You can't whole-cloth throw it out. But you can substantially change what's been done."

This may be a good end result for many of the stakeholders and the politicians involved. As for the American people, well, that’s a different story.

I've never said anything about his Mormonism. That doesn't make any difference to me. But, please don't call him a Conservative.
