Standards that are not based on actual bible are hurtful at best.
There are some guys that I love and appreciate who hold very conservative views. I love them because I understand where they are coming from and I would never be disrespetful to them.
that doesnt mean I agree with them and in fact, things like beard standard, is so unbiblical it boggles the mind that some still try to make it one.
I dont have a problem with a pastor who has some platform dress code.
thats his business. but if you are going to tell me i need to do or not do something, you better bring bible, because I will have mine in hand.

I see a very old argument resurrects itself.
I attend what most of you would call a UC church.
My pastor also says that there is more Bible for beards than against them.
He also "asks" that men be clean-shaved.
One of our men had a facial problem for a while and had to grow his facial hair out.
That was not a problem!
As I have stated before, all churches have some kind of "standards".
Many, many churches also have "platform" standards", liberal and conservative.
Occasionally, I have scruff, not a beard or even a moustache. Scruff's where it stops for me, but for those who wish to go above and beyond, go for it! Do it! Some of the clean-shaven traditionalists scuff at it, which I just sit back and laugh at them for...

Just curious. He asks just staff and platform folks to be clean shaven or all the men? The first seems reasonable, the other seems unnecessary and extra-biblical for the sake of it. No offense intended. Just a question.
