Honestly, having your phone on and texting during service is just down right rude.... It is just a natural habit for me to turn of the sound on my phone... Parents really should step up and take control of this.... Pastors and preachers have enough junk to fight through during a service. Hearing cell phones go off or seeing people text is a huge distraction... IT'S OF THE DEVIL I TELL YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A friend of one of my friends sez that his favorite thing to do is to text people DURING church and ask them if their phone is turned off.
Even funnier if it's a group text in a large church....
Not funny to the speaker, though.

It is rude and disrespectful to use cell phones in church! My pastor has stopped in the middle of his preaching and told the young people to put their cell phones away and stop texting.

That reminds me of when I was growing up the pastor stopping to tell the kids quit passing notes. Texting today is yesterdays note passing.

If you go to a movie theater, there are SEVERAL announcements flashed on the screen to 'please silence your cell phones'.
Lately they've added 'no texting' to it as well. LOL!
I think if a movie theater asks it of its attendees, a pastor surely can. It's just good, social etiquette.
EXCELLENT point, The Mrs.

I can remember a number of times that the pastor stopped the sermon and ordered his daughter and I to move to the front pew because we were either passing notes or whispering. MissBratt, you can ask him. I'm sure he'll be able to verify this. LOL
I'm glad I'm not a young person today. While I can definately see that it is wrong to be texting in church, if I were growing up today, I'd probably be one of those who would get called on the carpet for it. Sad, isn't it. LOL
